Actresses like Joan Collins and Elizabeth Taylor surpass that as do Gary Oldman and Sean Bean, likewise Jim Davidson.
Pop stars like cricket mad Mick Jagger fall short but have umpteen kids from other relationships as does Roderick Stewart who has tied the knot 3 times but several kids from extra marital affairs. Tom Jones has only been married once but his wife has had to look the other way when it comes to extra curricular activities. Phil Collins and Sir Paul McCartney are hot on the heels of Mick and Rod leaving Cliff Richard in their wake.
As for the 4 timers John Cleese, Des O'Connor and Freddie Starr accomplished that feat as has John Challis (Marleeene) but none of his marital unions have yielded any offspring! Sheena Easton has walked down the aisle on 4 occasions but incredibly none of the marriages lasted longer than 18 months. And Sandra Howard, wife of former Tory Leader Michael Howard married him 35 years ago but had 3 short lived, doomed marriages before that.

I've been married five times, but I've never been celebrated, despite my best efforts. Cliff? Cliff hasn't even had sex let alone got married - he's far too nice to do something as horrific as that, to a lady.

Barbara Windsor was betrothed on 3 occasions but did manage to have 5 abortions which she didn't seem coy about going public. This and her fratanising with the delightful Kray twins and marrying a gangster helped to make her a "national treasure."

Babs's fellow casting actor in Eastenders (the soap with the cheery, lighthearted storylines) was the the late Wendy Richard who had wed on 4 occasions but like BW did not have children.

Not a UK celebrity, but Kenny Rogers was married five times. I believe Janice Gordon was the first edition. Kenny's feat was matched by Clark Gable, George Foreman and Joan Collins. I believe some old chap called Henry outshone this lot.

Sad news that John Edrich has passed aged 83 having overcome leukaemia diagnosed 20 years earlier.
Did cousin Bill set the record for the most betrothed professional cricketer? "He was 20 when he first tied the knot in 1936. That marriage ended in divorce in 1944 and straight away Edrich married again. This time the marriage lasted four years before another marriage a year later proved rather more enduring, for eleven years. When that relationship ended in 1960 he again married almost immediately, this time for thirteen years. After that marriage ended in 1973 Edrich waited ten years before marrying for the fifth and final time. Edrich had one son by each of the third and fourth marriages and whilst he doubtless sorely tried the patience of all his wives none of the divorces seem to have been acrimonious."
In an era when relationships endured longer than today and there was a stigma to divorce, 5 marriages is some record.

Quick update, I'm now on the sixth wife, the fifth one left me at x-mas. My apt putdown seems to have been deleted It must have been insulting then. Wasn't about my huge women's 100 metre runner arse was it? Sure, it gets attention from the wrong people and walking is hard work but it looks divine.
