www.thesun.co.uk/news/14576029/father-coma-teen-attack-defending-son-park/This hasn't merited the attention it should on the regional news but let's hope this man makes a full recovery and the teenage thugs get harsh sentences . When my wife took a p/t job in a newsagents back in the late 90s, she was apprehensive on first day, and surprise, surprise, 3 teenage toerags came into the shop and stole some top shelf magazines. She phoned me at home and by the description I knew the main troublemaker and that they hung out at Langney Shopping Centre. I normally avoid physical confrontation if I can diffuse it verbally without losing face but I was incensed and was ready to pile into this 16 year old who had been expelled from my son's school (he was a couple of years younger). I saw a throng of 12 milling around and when I made out the culprit attacked him from behind. Unfortunately it was the wrong guy and the main perpetrator, for once wasn't there. Probably entertaining himself over his recently acquired merchandise. A PC arrived and I ended up rightly apologising and shook hands with the mistaken victim. The copper knew these lot were a scourge so didn't press charges against me. At least the yobs stopped coming back to the shop to pilfer.

There are no words for this. Sometimes anger leaves me speechless.

Oh, I thought this was gonna be about that old movie Animal Farm. Worst movie I've ever seen.

Back in the late 90s (again), two 10 year old Hastings girls were abducted by an evil paedophile called Alan Hopkinson who held them for 4 days while a nationwide search was underway to find these poor souls. This fiend lived above Langney Shopping Centre, near my address, the flat where he held and subjected them to horrific degradation. It was only after the girls had been found and his picture published in the national press, my eldest daughter then aged about 14, on seeing my paper said "I know him, he was the weird bloke hanging around in the nearby graveyard when we (she and her sister then aged 6 and 7) used to ride our bikes. He offered to push us on the go kart we had and gave us these grotty apples he picked." Right....gulp. One of the abducted girls gave a recent account to a national newspaper and in one telling remark stated the pointlessness of counselling. I don't doubt it has benefits for some, but how right she was www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/13544144/abducted-paedophile-shaped-mother/

A ridiculous comment. If you get your opinions from a sample of one person, you are unlikely to get a balanced view of the world. It is true that counselling isn’t for everybody but that’s true about many things. Many have been rescued by counselling. Just do some googling.

Don’t let him get your back up philh, he reads the Daily Mail and The Sun, that should tell you all you need to know about his research.

Oh, I thought this was gonna be about that old movie Animal Farm. Worst movie I've ever seen. This is an understandable misconception. I don't know about the film (not movie, please) but the book by Eric Blair was based in a fictionalised version of Willingdon, a district of Eastbourne, and the Red Lion pub mentioned in the book is still there and trading, when covid laws allow.

Escape to the Country featured a martial arts fanatic (bore) from Uckfield wanting to move to Norfolk, house viewing with one of his daughters, not wife. Furthermore his misses didn't even want to be on camera in the preview showing their home life in their current town, weird or what?

Why can't we have a new thread about Escape to the Country, or Martial Arts Fanatics, or possibly Difficult Spouses?

Don't aggravate it Flash. Tiptoes is one of those people who thinks it's normal to post a general musing that most people save for the wife or the dog on a message board. Without the 'Off topic' section the man would be mute.

The parallels between Ian Huntley and Bish are uncanny. Two weaselly little blokes whose dead victims that were cold bloodedly murdered were both 2 young girls of a similar age. And both scumbags had girlfriends who have been in the dock for providing a false alibi to get their partner's off the hook. It didn't work in Maxine Carr's case but if JJ hadn't lied maybe Bishop would have been convicted and the poor young girl he battered a couple of years later would have been spared the ordeal.
