The ECB really ARE pigs with their snouts in the trough! Senior ECB executives to share £2.1m bonus despite Covid job cuts CEO Harrison and Hundred MD Patel among recipients Body says it is a ‘retention tool for key senior leaders’ www.theguardian.com/sport/20...covid-job-cutsI agree. Link not working BTW. I'm waiting for them to sort out the racial issues at Yorkshire CCC. Some very entitled blazers need to be ejected from the game.

There's a way to really help with all this heavy scheduling I think. Shorten the Blast to the same size as the Hundred and play games more frequently. Every other day - it's only 40 overs, tops. We could have both tournaments done and dusted in six weeks between about mid July and late August. What I've enjoyed about The Hundred is the proper scheduling, something to watch at a convenient time every day of the tournament and very little fixture clashing except the odd Sunday. The Blast is all over the place & infuriating with all the games crammed into 2/3 days of the week with each county featuring only a few times on Sky with wobbly streamed footage as your only alternative. Presumably if the counties had their way they'd only play on a Friday night as that's most chance of a sell out but it seems madness from a TV coverage point of view to have days with no games and then the next day 7-8 games. Agreed, it's been a proper tournament in every way and particularly scheduling. The Blast needs to replicate the Hundred as much as possible, starting with reducing the endless group stage games and getting the tournament done and dusted quickly. I was wrong about the Hundred being three weeks, it was four, but it could be three and they both could be. There's zero atmosphere in tonight's QF, although nobody's at home so hopefully that's why.

Yep, it was dead - strangely, it livened up when they started the music later on in the match!

I’m not sure what pictures Sky was showing as it certainly wasn’t dead in the stand in which I was sitting! It was full of Yorkshire supporters who were making plenty of noise right up until Jordan hit the winning runs.

Staging the match at a rival's ground didn't help. The boundary markers were comical too. The T20 needs to keep up with the 100 now. I agree with the criticism of how it is run. BIG changes required.

Yorkshire really didn’t have any option but to stage it at a rival’s ground, blame the ECB for scheduling the match the evening before Headingley was to be used for a test match and Sky for for saying Scarborough wasn’t suitable.
The boundary markers were Yorkshire’s, they wanted the boundaries to be exactly as they would have been at Headingley.

The layout looked very eccentric on TV.

The layout looked very eccentric on TV. They’re certainly not usually like that at Durham. Apparently the boundaries were set by Yorkshire, being the home club. from BBC website Vikings choose shorter boundaries With the match switched to Durham's Riverside ground because Headingley is to be used for the third Test against India on Wednesday, Yorkshire had the rope brought in to match the boundary dimensions of their usual home.

Micky Mouse cricket competitions like the Hundred produce Micky Mouse standard cricketers.
Michael Vaughan @michaelvaughan · 14h 5 County teams bowled out for under 150 today !!!! It’s fine saying we need more 4 day cricket but we have to play on better pitches to prepare Test match standard players .. It’s not good for Bowlers or Batters .. Pitches need to be better .

Don't recall Vaughan talking about Mickey Mouse competition while commentating on the Hundred.

Don't recall Vaughan talking about Mickey Mouse competition while commentating on the Hundred. Maybe he doesn't want his lucrative contract renewed. I'm beginning to wonder how much CP actually likes the Hundred.
