It seems an age since Sussex last played a T20 game, but the sole hope of winning silverware this season comes in the shape of a fixture against Yorkshire, which is being held at Durham's Chester-le-Street ground.
Sussex qualified for the knockout stages having won 6 games, lost 3 and had 5 no results. Sussex suffered two more washouts than any other county and would have finished in second place if the umpires had allowed the Surrey game to continue for one more ball. But, that's all history and Sussex now need to beat Yorkshire to reach Finals Day on Saturday 18th September. If you think the T20 Blast is fitting around the prestigious Hundred tournament, you are probably not mistaken.
Against Sussex's County Championship form of 1 win/5 defeats and the Royal London One Day Cup form of 2 wins/4 defeats, it is hard to argue that most of Sussex's eggs are in the T20 basket. In comparison, Yorkshire have performed much better across the three tournaments, but as we all know T20 games can hinge on one or two important moments.
Harry Brook has been Yorkshire's star batsmen in the T20 Blast this season, scoring 485 runs at a strike rate of 150. After Brook, runs have been shared around, although Jonny Bairstow has scored well in his limited appearances. Lockie Ferguson has been the pick of the bowlers taking 14 wickets at a rate of a fraction over 7 per over.
Yorkshire have proved an unpredictable T20 outfit this season. They have won 7 games and lost 5 games. This is reflected in the number of runs they have scored and conceded with no real pattern to how they have won and lost games. Sussex can certainly win this one, so let's hope that several hours of travel to Durham is worthwhile. A win and a place in the Finals at Edgbaston. Why not, indeed.

I expect Sussex to win this. No Malan, Root or Bairstow for Yorks. We should be too good for Yorks.

If Mills, Garton and Jordan can pass on their superb form from the 100 to this QF, we have a good chance... especially at the Riverside, a ground renowned for favouring seamers.
Some concern over Wright who didn't play a game for the Trent Rockets, Rawlins similarly sat on the bench for the Southern Brave and Bopara made no impact at all. While, Phil Salt was nowhere to be seen.
Meanwhile, Khan must be very concerned about friends and family in Afghanistan. His opening 5 balls for the Rockets in the Eliminator were particularly poor. And Head and Wiese have been sitting on their bottoms. My point being, some of our top players are a bit rusty right now.
Fingers crossed.

Salt + Wright * Head Bopara Wiese Rawlins Garton Jordan Khan Beer/Lenham Mills Cannot have three overseas players. Keep forgetting Wiese is now an overseas! I’d have Carter in for Head otherwise it leaves us a batter short.

Sussex playing three spinners (Beer, Khan and Lenham) whereas Yorkshire are only playing one spinner (Rashid) and have left out Dom Bess.

We are a batter short, Carter should be in for one of three leggies. He's also a proper keeper, unlike Salt from what I saw in the Hundred. It's very strange to me that you want 7/8 bowling options when four of them are four of the best in the world. Our strength is our attack and we've strengthened it. Our batting is our weakness and we've weakened it. We have zero form there too.

To be honest if it had got down to Carter we've lost anyway. Yorkshire 33-3 after 5 overs with Khan and Lenham among the wickets which proves the right team has been selected despite what any of the so called experts on this messageboard say. Kirtley has picked the best eleven players available. I don't expect to see Bopara, Rawlins or Wiese bowling many overs tonight.

That doesn't prove the right team was picked whatsoever. If you need 200 to win the game why do you need 8 bowlers and three batters? Willey's showed nothing and if all three leggies bowl their quota we won't need one from Jordan, Garton or Mills either.

Because it is a batsmen's paradise FFS and so the bowlers are likely go around the park. It looks like Beer and Garton will only bowl four overs between them. Yorkshire 85-3 off 12 overs should be looking for 170. Will this be enough? It shouldn't be if we bat properly. If you need a sixth batsman your top five aren't doing their job properly. The Hundred proved bowlers win tournements not batsmen.

Looks like we're doing our best to gift them a decent score despite the good start

Carter and Ward have only scored 52 T20 runs between them and so would not have improved the batting.
