I wonder if any of those county stints have actually been successful? Certainly Nottinghamshire were not impressed with his efforts last season according to their BBC commentator Dave Bracegirdle.

Here is the latest 'County Ins & Outs' from the BBC Website. Very disappointing that Sussex is one of only 5 counties which still has a blank "In" column. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/37315615

It may, but we know that Taylor, Cachopa and Hatchett have left already.

May I suggest Chris that you await next March before becoming concerned about Sussex new signings being listed on The BBC website ?
I am very confident that the squad will be stronger next seasons and new signings will be announced as soon as we are able to do so.
Also the full fitness of Messrs Wright and Machan should make a major difference
Keep the faith!

I am very confident that the squad will be stronger next seasons and new signings will be announced as soon as we are able to do so. Also the full fitness of Messrs Wright and Machan should make a major difference Keep the faith! To be fair, Mr May, I think “Chris” ’s concern is not nearly as unreasonable as you set out to make it sound. Three have already left from a squad that badly underperformed last season in all competitions. Since then Sussex’s offer to Darren Stevens has been snubbed. Other all-rounders who could have been top recruits such as Ryan McLaren ,Will Gidman and Scott Borthwick have moved elsewhere , as have much needed batting reinforcements, including Steven Davies, Stoneman and Luis Reece. Imran Tahir, who could have been the mystery spinner Sussex have been seeking since Mushy retired, has gone to Derbyshire of all places. Meanwhile, we have a further six days to wait on the decision of Ed Joyce, who was given an ultimatum by Mark Davis to tell the club by the end of October whether he still supports the cause. Even if he decides to play in 2017 on a dilettante basis, the idea that he will fly in from Dublin for those matches for which he declares himself available is deeply unsatisfactory and I think we can say with some certainty that such an arrangement is unlikely to deliver the same volume of runs. Still, it's good to know that Wright and Machan will be fit. Almost as good as two new singings. Pending further injuries, of course... While you are on, Mr May, can I ask if you or anyone else from Sussex is serving on the working party of county chairmen and CEOs which the ECB has set up to thrash out the details of the eight team T20 comp and to ensure that the existing 18 county Blast is not damaged but enhanced by the new set-up? Or has your ill-advised King Canute role resulted in Sussex being excluded from the decision-making process?

Jim,
I am delighted to read about your confidence over future club signings. I shall keep the faith and when these new players appear will post my views.
Thank you for responding to my post.

I think perhaps Jim underestimates the passion a lot of the posters on this message board have for Sussex cricket and how frustrating it is to hear snippets and rumours but not have them confirmed or denied. We deserve respect, not to be admonished like naughty school children being told off by the Headmaster. We are the fans, we buy the memberships, we put bums on seats. We're actually on the same side Jim, lets have more communication about our club from our club. Thanks.

An enlightening article from Steve Hollis today showing while Sussex are keen to sign two high quality cricketers, getting them to sign for Sussex may prove more difficult. Chairman Jim May insists Sussex can still compete financially for top players as the county closes in on two “high-quality” signings. Sussex are keen to strengthen their batting over the winter but have seen a number of targets join clubs in division one of the Championship.
Steven Davies switched to Somerset after leaving the Oval and Mark Stoneman opted to join Surrey from Durham having both been on Sussex’s radar. It was a similar story last year when England all-rounder David Willey rejected an offer from Sussex and moved to Yorkshire from Northamptonshire instead.
Coach Mark Davis is aware of the need to bolster Sussex’s top order and has been working hard to identify alternative targets but admits it has been tough due to a limited budget and the county’s division two status.
May admits that money is tight at Hove as the county attempts to balance its books after reporting losses for the past two years but is adamant Sussex are still willing to pay top dollar for the best players. He said: “We have never missed out on anybody because of money. We are prepared to pay as much as anybody but for whatever reasons those players haven’t come to us. We are still looking to sign two high-quality players. It has been difficult, as it is every year, but I am very confident we will achieve that.”There is good news: Ed Joyce is considering an offer to play in the Championship only while Sussex have received more than 50 applicants to take over from chief executive Zac Toumazi when he retires on December 23rd. www.theargus.co.uk/sport/14873246.Sussex_closing_in_on_two__high_quality__signings/?ref=eb

Perhaps, Ed's recent op may explain the procrastination? Hhs has already mentioned this but here it is again with a pic. Op done. On the comeback trail now. Feel like I k-need some sleep though - see what I did there! One presumes Ed will await to see how his recovery goes and then make a decision. It makes a lot of sense that he just plays the Championship as he can arrange his other activities in Ireland around it.

Very good news, though of course, though it depends on the definition of high quality. Ed Joyce was a high quality batsman, as were Adams and Goodwin

Essex have signed Mohammad Amir for the second part of the season. Should be an interesting signing and they are building a competitive squad.
