Do you believe that Tom Alsop will improve our batting line up? Yes! There’s no doubt he walks into our top six Not saying that’s a good thing but it’s just where we are at the moment Nah sorry i dont believe that.

Tom Alsop is currently a better bat than Clark, Ward, Coles, Carter, Rawlins of that there surely can be no debate. Any of these players may turn out to be better than Alsop but right now as sad as it sounds having an experienced bat who averages 26 is a good signing for us!

Whilst i agree with the sentiment, signing someone not good enough for this level is utterly pointless.

The thing that actually annoys me about this potential Alsop signing is that dear old Grubby got rid of four top order bats all of whom are better and have better averages than the fella who is now our saviour!
What a total mess he’s made of this club (but let’s not go down that road again!)

Yes but if it’s only a loan for a season it may make sense to take the pressure off some of these youngsters and give them time to actually develop! And he has four hundreds at div 1 level so he may do ok as a stop gap in div 2

Agreed. Let’s face it, a top order full of inexperienced youngsters clearly wasn’t good enough for this level either.

We need at least 2 loan batsman! Ideally with a bit of experience to balance the side. Alsop would be a great fit clearly with a point to prove. Experience is needed even more now given our overseas will chop & change all year.

I'm with Gordy, zero point in signing a loan at all in my view, let alone one with that record. Give the space to a yoot. I actually wanna see if Flower can make much of Rawlins, who's unquestionably a great ball striker.
So it's Pujara replacing Head all season, presumably. Well he's certainly a proper number 3. Hope his early season England experience is stored in his memory bank. And Rizwan just misses the first game before being replaced by a young Aussie. Not sure what to make of him, better google him.
Once we have Pujara and Rizwan though, then just one yoot at five needed, Carter 6, H-P, Garton... then we're talking, hopefully.

Good point about Haywood and Wilton AB. (Although I am still surprised that youngsters who can start for a county can’t make the England u19 team) As for your other comment, I’ve supported Sussex for 33 years and always want them to win which is why I want the management out as under their watch we lose most of our games! I’d love nothing more than Grubby and Squeaky to prove us all wrong and prove that getting rid of Nash, Wells, Salt, Evans, Brown, Tawanda, Burgess, Jordan, Briggsy and Topley is a master stroke but I can’t see it, can you? I’d love nothing more than suddenly our recruitment to start signing us players who will make a difference. But Grubby and Squeaky signed us Meaker, Claydon and Thomason so I can’t see this happening either… can you? I’d love nothing more than to believe this is a great plan to blood all these youngsters but we played 26 players last season and most of them did not have contracts this time last year so it wasn’t even planned I just can’t see why anyone would give this management the benefit of the doubt, we are the worst team in the country and we are getting worse! But of course I still want us to win and if Grubby and Squeaky turn it round and next season we are challenging for promotion than I’ll be the first to apologise and praise them both! As always I’d be interested in your view on why you back them? What have you seen from them that has impressed you? Very well put. It's inconceivable that anyone could think the management are doing well and that losing all those decent, experienced players is in anyway good. That is right the last throws of Robinson was the moment that was lost and decline set in hence where we are today this season we are lacking strike bowlers of experience and quality if we keep improving with the bat next season recovery will be seen in the standings.
