I don’t know why Salisbury keeps picking Rawlins. He is useless at red ball cricket surely Lenham has to play. Virdi and Moriarity left out of our squad again. They will get fed up not playing so IS should get one of them on loan.

To me, it looks like this, unless there's something in the wicket for Lenham. Haines Orr Alsop Pujara Clark Carter Rawlins Robinson Crocombe Beard Hunt This is the team. Rawlins is still a good choice at 7 and should never have been dropped after basically scoring 50 in an early game - more bizarre managerial behaviour for Gordy to brag about. He's not useless Steve, he's stupid. But he can hit the ball as well as anyone, anywhere, he's a gun fielder and he's a better spin option than Crane or Lenham right now cos he can at least hold an end for ten overs a day. He ain't bowling nobody out though. Haines will not even throw the ball to Lenham so there's zero point there.

Guess it was a little late to draft in Piyesh Chawla for a game.
Did anyone know Crane was going now? Is it early? has he been bumped off early? Where's the info with Sussex?

I don’t know why Salisbury keeps picking Rawlins. He is useless at red ball cricket surely Lenham has to play. Virdi and Moriarity left out of our squad again. They will get fed up not playing so IS should wsbr]get one of them on loan. I mentioned both their names as options in the Worcestershire thread last month Steve. Your response at the time is Virdi would soon get selected by Surrey, but Moriarty should be available. Either way, they are both front line spinners and either would have been a better option than bringing in Crane, throwing Lenham in at the deep end when he still needs time to adapt to red ball cricket or relying on Rawlins to try and hold an end down. Very muddled thinking here by Sussex management, compounded further if the intel is correct by sending Crane back early and going back to the original plan of Rawlins or Lenham that didn't work. There has been a lot of talk of 'Project Youth' and whilst there was a much improved performance against a strong Middlesex side, despite controlling the match up until lunch on the last day (other than the wobble at the start of the second innings), the outcome was very disappointing and followed the theme of the previous two seasons. Leicestershire are one of the weaker Counties, so I would suggest this will give a far clearer indication of whether we are making any incremental improvement and whether we can secure a better finish in Division Two this season. Realistically, much as we all wanted it we were never going to challenge for promotion, based on our showing over the last two seasons, our bottom of the Table finishes and our inability to win matches. We should, however, be able to hold our own against the likes of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Durham and put up a good showing against Worcestershire and Glamorgan. This will be an excellent opportunity to secure our first win in over twelve months, providing the weather holds and we don't have another 'road' of a wicket. I dare not even suggest the fall out of another defeat.

Orr Haines c Alsop Pujara Clarke Carter wk Robinson Lenham Beard Crocombe Hunt My gut feeling is they will play safe and go with Rawlins ahead of Lenham. In theory it strengthens the batting, always assuming Rawlins doesn't have one of those rushes of blood to the head and tries to leather a straight one out of the ground (probably during the last over of the day), plus there are still doubts as to whether Lenham's bowling is ready for red ball cricket. Yes, I know how will he be if he doesn't get selected, not necessarily disagreeing just trying to predict what I suspect Salisbury and Co will go for come the final team selection.

It’s probably not the right game to bring back Lenham as the T20s are almost upon us. Unless, that is, the wicket is ideal for his skills.

So Rawlins now plays as a batsman. Looks a shallow batting line-up with no Orr and Rizwan. We were always going to be only an absentee or two away from it looking like that.

Robinson's first over looked lifeless; and now Hunt has replaced him. Hope he's ok.

Robinson's first over looked lifeless; and now Hunt has replaced him. Hope he's ok. Let's hope he just fancies bowling from the other end and they are going to switch him. If he is injured, we really are in trouble 😔😢. If I remember correctly Orr was struggling with an injury against Middlesex and didn't field on the last day. No Adrian Harmes either? They are dropping like flies!!

Without Orr, Rizwan and Robinson, this looks like a tough game suddenly.
