Really struggling to get enthused about this match, not sure my stance would change even it were designated First Class.
At least we have fielded a proper first team, albeit missing our overseas contingent.
Regretfully, we still can't take a wicket in keeping with the common problem of our red ball season to date.
At £35 a pop I would be interested to know how many are in the ground. Presumably, this match was already included as part of the membership package?

Why haven't Haines or Clarke bowled any overs?  Why isn't Lenham playing??? |

Why haven't Haines or Clarke bowled any overs?  Why isn't Lenham playing??? Lenham probably being rested for the T20, bowled a lot of overs at Leicester and is still only 17.
Haines and Clark didn't get a bowl bacause Haines probably felt obliged to bowl the so called bowlers fast.
I sincerely hope New Zealand declare overnight as with little prospect of play on Monday because of rain it will be their only chance to give their bowlers a run out in this game.

Good job its only a friendly!! Unfortunately that's where we have come to.
There was a time not so long ago where a county's match against the tourists would be one of the highlights of the season - perhaps the highlight of the season. Vigorously contested, a lot of prestige at stake, busy with a lively and engaged crowd, with the aim to turn over the visitors.
We really are down to defending the last piece of territory now. Games such as these and the MCC v Champion County have been annexed or eradicated by the enemy, and this autumn it looks as we could be facing the elimination of four more Championship games.
