There will be no time to dwell on the Glamorgan result, so it's off to Bristol to face Gloucestershire. What do we think about this one?

Same team. Too early to press the panic button. My worry is there are too many players coming towards the end of their careers. We need to get to the point where as many players in the T20 can also play red ball. Should be as few white ball contacts as possible. A good win tonight needed.

I agree if you are going to have Beer, Bopara, Mills and Wright then you need to be reaching finals day. If you don't get out of the group you may as well play the youngsters. It's a false economy. Pick two overseas players who can play the whole competition.

I am sorry but if Mills cannot bowl eight overs in two days he should not be playing county cricket. It's beyond a joke.
Bopara is an absolutely hopeless captain who needs to be replaced by Rizwan with immediate effect.

Rizwan out. Game, set and match. Sussex have lost. Send Philippe back on the plane to Australia. What a waste of time, money and effort. Send Bopara and Mills back to Essex, Rawlins back to Bermuda, Ward back to Oxford and Beer back to Horsham. Rizwan and Finn apart Sussex have been absolutely woeful yet again. We are tactically inept. This is the worst Sussex T20 team with the worst captain in the history of the competition. Andrew, Greenfield, Kirtley and Salisbury out! Would Haines, Clark, Orr and Alsop do any worse than Rawlins, Phillipe, Bopara and Ward?

Cricinfo telling it like it is today regarding our FIFTH overseas signing for the Blast: "Sussex have remained upbeat publicly with a club statement declaring they were 'delighted' to announce McCoy's arrival. However, the preparation of an infographic outlining which of their five recruits will be available for which match underlines the sense of chaos - not least with an asterisk reminding supporters that their plans were subject to change." I think most of us on the forum will agree that there is indeed a "sense of chaos" about the Sussex decision making. If one considers that Travis Head was our original overseas signing for all formats, we've just signed our sixth choice overseas player. One can sympathise up to a point with changes in players' schedules and international call-ups, but I can't imagine there are any other counties who have handled things quite like ours. As others have commented previously, notwithstanding Rizwan who is in a class above just about everyone else, this is a very weak Blast side, immeasurably weaker than the team that took the field in 2019. In terms of domestic players, the club has totally failed to recruit suitable replacements for Salt, Evans, Jordan, Briggs and Wiese (I know they couldn't do much about Wiese's enforced departure). I wonder how Luke Wright feels about it all, after his comments last autumn that the club needed to do better at retaining key players and recruiting new players. The recruitment process feels truly shambolic. After the disappointment of a seemingly never-ending run of failure to win red ball matches, we could be in for a disappointing white ball season too. I know it's early days but the omens aren't good. By the time Rashid Khan arrives it could well be too late.

Total and utter capitulation.
Last night I said the batting was naive and we were thirty runs light. Tonight the bowling was naive and we conceded thirty runs too many.
The primary difference is the thirteen, yes THIRTEEN sixes we gave them (that is over 10% of balls bowled) compared to the three we managed, together with our feable and brainless death bowling. They scored (or we gave them depending on your point of view) 66 runs off their last five overs, we scored just 24.
I lost count of the number of scooped sixes they hit off of short deliveries. Isn't madness defined as doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome?
We scored just one four off the last eight overs!! It is really worrying how totally reliant our batting has been on Rizwan these first two matches.
Fair play to Finn who was a cut above the rest. Rawlins bowling wasn't too shabby and I have already mentioned Rizwan's batting.
Not sure what is going on with Garton and Beer who are usually reliable, but they are a shadow of their usual selves.
I felt for Crocombe, he simply isn't ready for the responsibilty the club, management, captain is placing on him. Having said that his first two overs were good and I believe only cost ten runs. Bopara should have bowled him out and the decision to use him at the death was quite simply flawed and unfair.
I am not sure the same criticism can be levelled at management over the exodus of some of our previous T20 key players as applies to the County Championship team. If the comments on this forum are to be believed money wasn't an issue, efforts were made, but other factors came into play.
Where questions can legitimately be asked are over team selection, choice of Captain, recruitment and tactics.
As I said yesterday, we have to be realistic. This has always been the tougher more competitive group to qualify from and we have a weaker side this year. However, we have a right as supporters to expect a competitive side and at the moment we are falling well short. The real worry is we have yet to play any of the stronger teams.
Many have asked for change. Well given this competition is the more financially lucrative and that traditionally resources by the club have been channelled into this format to the detriment off the red ball side, failure this year may well be the catalyst that forces the changes many of you seek.

Rizwan looks the biz, but it must be draining carrying all the hopes of Sussex on his shoulders. Beer is not the player he was, how long before he walks too? Maybe the reason why Sussex couldn’t keep players from leaving is they could see the writing on the wall?
