Sorry Joe, I was referring to the teams selected by the posters on this forum not the one selected by Messrs Kirtley and Salisbury. On a different theme, we now have sound on the live stream. Regretfully, we have the myopic biased Middlesex commentator from earlier in the season. The Middlesex commentator and Harms would be better off in a Carry On film.

Middlesex.
Top of the League?
Really?

With 71 on the scoreboard at the end of the powerplay following some very wayward bowling, I was starting to fear a score in excess of 200.
But, credit where credit is due, what a fantastic comeback by Sussex!! Only conceded 92 runs from the remaining 13.3 overs.
Great bowling from Lenham, Finn and McCoy. Excellent fielding, no dropped catches, safe hands Rawlins and what a catch from Luke.
We seriously need to look into keeping McCoy for the duration of the Competition.
Hopefully, our batters can finish off the task in hand.

What a revelation McCoy has been. In fact all the O/S have been good so far. Let’s see what Seifert can do with the bat.
Light rain has delayed the reply by Sussex. We need to go hard from the start if we get back out there to get up on DLS.

Play to start at 9:15 if no further rain.
Sussex require 146 off 17 overs at 8.5 an over.

I hope Seifart bats well; or I will have a rant about overseas taking the opportunity of Sussex lads!!! Orr should have opened!!!

Looks as if Bopara is coming into a bit of form at the right time.
Good win and up to 4th in the south group.

A rather closer and nervier run chase than I am sure many of us would have liked.
A situation made for Ravi Bopara and all his experience. How often did we witness him manage a run chase like that in his Essex days?
Going back to my earlier post about the proposed team selection put forward by fellow posters ahead of tonight's match. I just can't see how Harrison Ward can be omitted at present. Another massive contribution tonight, coming in when the match situation was delicately poised and he more than rose to the occasion.
I know there are some admirable performances being made at the moment by individuals in the second T20 eleven, but it is still second eleven and any elevation shouldn't be at the expense of those who are part of the current uplift in the team's performance. I say this as one who had wrongly previously expressed doubts about the young man's inclusion.
Well played again Sussex, a good all round team performance.
The extra bonus, no return match so we won't be subjected again to the extremely annoying and biased Middlesex commentator.

That was one of the most enjoyable T20 games I have watched at Hove for some seasons. It had more twists and turns than 'Snakes & Ladders'.
A great win and I am particularly delighted for Ravi Bopara. He has underperformed since joining Sussex, but tonight his winning performance was a classic Captain's innings.
Exceptional in every way.

I’m beginning to think someone at the club knows more than some of us. I’m sure I’ve read that Bopara shouldn’t be at Sussex let alone captain. I’ve heard that Harrison Ward should be nowhere near the first team. I’ve learnt that swapping overseas players continuously will end in tears. And, of course, allowing the likes of Jordan, Salt, Evans and Briggs go means we are doomed.
Well, not so. We played the undefeated league leaders and for the second consecutive game ended their run of wins. If anything, we deserved to win by a bigger margin, I think. There’s always some luck involved in a T20 game and Middlesex had more than their fair share of mis-hits that could have resulted in batsmen playing on.
While Messrs Duckworth Lewis gave us a generous target, it meant we had to win the game several times in case the rain scuppered any further play. We did make slightly heavy weather of our reply, but the heavy weather meant that we had to keep our scoring rate up with DL in case the game ended prematurely. That was a big pressure unless one of our team is an expert meteorologist. The higher order batsmen kept the runs coming, scoring at 160 per 100. We couldn’t afford anyone at the top to score 10 off 15.
Earlier the bowlers had done what T20 bowlers are supposed to do; either take top order wickets or keep the runs down. At one stage 210/220 looked worryingly likely.
Finally, the fielding was excellent. Rawlings took three good catches and Wright’s catch challenged a remark I heard two balls before that he is too old.
Finally finally, congratulations to the umpires who got the most play possible when other umpires would have been well up the M23 by the time the game ended. If the game had ceased at 5 to 6 overs when the heavens reopened, it would have given us the right result, but how much happier the crowd went home after Bopara’s final over hits.

One of the best posts I have read on here for quite some time. Excellent philh, some outstanding points.
