If they had no intention of playing Robinson then why rest Finn?
Anywho, Currie and Karvelas both bowling well in their opening spells.
Keep the faith Joe.

You try to give the benefit of the doubt to the coaching staff, but...
Criminal (is that too strong?), I repeat criminal that Carter isn't selected in our eleven. Not being wise after the event, but I had a suspicion he might be excluded.
I can't imagine Hudson-Prentice is overly impressed either.
Looking from the outside, looks like they have given Ward a white ball contract and in order to justify the decision he will be selected in preference to others who should be in the side ahead of him.
Robinson missing again? Disappointing. Injured, another veto by the ECB or is there something else going on? I just have this feeling his time as a Sussex player may be drawing to an end.
Good to see Karvelas and Currie given opportunities. They aren't the answer, but are more and more looking at a piece in the puzzle towards strengthening our bowling unit.
Not wrong to go into the game with six bowlers and two spinners, Lenham is our best option. I just feel for the young guy being pushed into a role before he is ready. Speaks volumes about our lack of options.
Update. So Robinson rested!! Ridiculous, particularly as he has travelled all the way up to Nottingham for the match. He is a professional athlete, hardly played this season. One four day match that only lasted three, bowled 36.1 overs and he spent a third of that with his feet up. Who are they kidding? If he does manage to get a recall to the Test team, how is he going to last an entire series? He should be demanding to play both for the good of the team and his personal aspirations.
On a positive note good start by our bowlers, but I stick with my earlier post that three wins from our matches will be quite an achievement given where we are at present.
Big winter off season where the club has an opportunity to make a big statement both on and off the field as to its ambition.

Another question for the coach. Makes no sense, which given what Finn has offered in terms of availability and performances since his signing, precedes the bigger question of why do we keep signing veteran seamers in the twilight of their careers with question marks over their fitness?

Lenham isn’t good enough at this level. He’s got potential but he’s got a lot of developing to do both in body and skill.
and there’s no excuse to keep bowling no-balls.

Surprised he was used ahead of Rawlins Joe. Yes no excuse for the no balls. He had a breakthrough season last year, but teams seem to have got wise to him. Would probably not have played as much if Carson had been available. Despite his two wickets, Hunt has also been a tad expensive. Not for the first time this season, had the opposition on the ropes at 38-3 and missed out on pressing home the advantage. Need to bowl well at the death, which has not been evident in many Sussex performances in the white ball format of late.

He's a young las learning his craft, he is never going to be the finished article at 18. I agree about the no-balls but spinners only learn by getting lots of overs under their belts.

Agreed, but he does get his over fair share of opportunity. There are others that should get reasonable opportunities; particularly in the white ball.

The bigger problem is yet again our death bowling. 53 runs so far off overs 41 to 45 and that's allowing for one from Rawlins that went for just seven. As I type more carnage as Rawlins is launched for two sixes.

Yes, lots and lots of overs in the 2nd XI.

Am I being too simple? Get Clarke to bowl and drop a bowler;we can then play another batter. Is this too difficult for the Management to understand.

You can forgive spinners going for a few if they are taking regular wickets, Lenham isn’t taking wickets. He’s also noticeably weak in the field.

290 all out. 104 off the last 10 overs. Good come back from Currie, but clearly an area where we need to improve. I am not sure that is possible with the current group of seamers available. Even less so, given Robinson would appear to be back in the England fold. Karvelas first 5 overs cost 12 runs, his last 5 overs 60 runs. Ibrahim did well, as did Rawlins other than his last expensive over where you could argue he shouldn't have been required to bowl. As in the Championship Match, success depending heavily on Orr, Alsop and Pujara.

290 all out. 104 off the last 10 overs. Easily done at trent bridge, remember the test match recently? Your personal vendetta against Lenham is very odd i must say
