The 100 Tournament 2022 begins tonight with last year's winners and local team, Southern Brave, playing the Welsh Fire (7pm SKY Sports). The Women's competition starts on August 12th 11th. I bow down to squiddy ink. Here is the full fixture listwww.skysports.com/the-hundred/fixturesSouthern Brave holds on to James Vince as Captain. Here is the squad: Home ground: The Ageas Bowl Head coach: Mahela Jayawardene Squad: James Vince (captain), Jofra Archer, Tymal Mills, Chris Jordan, George Garton, Craig Overton, Alex Davies, Jake Lintott, Rehan Ahmed, Ross Whiteley, Joe Weatherley, Dan Moriarty, Michael Hogan. O/S players: Quinton de Kock (South Africa)*, Marcus Stoinis (Australia)**, Tim David (Singapore), Finn Allen (New Zealand) *James Fuller will step in for Quinton de Kock when the latter is on international duty **Paul Stirling (Ireland) will step in for Marcus Stoinis when the latter is on international dutyWill Garton play or could his long-covid remain an obstacle? Will Mills match his excellent bowling performance during last year's tournament? While Jofra Archer continues his injury woes. With Quinton de Kock returning alongside Paul Stirling in the wings, both cricketers played a major role in the 2021 Trophy win. Southern Brave could be favourites to retain the Cup. www.skysports.com/cricket/news/12123/12656402/the-hundred-mens-preview-will-southern-brave-retain-the-title-or-will-there-be-a-new-name-on-trophyMeanwhile, how about this for a team bonding exercise. www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/other-sport/a-different-way-to-warm-up-for-the-hundred-southern-brave-cricketers-abseil-down-the-spinnaker-tower-3788869

The ladies start on the 11th actually you misodge. You better be careful S&F, you might get cancelled for that horrendous act of gender violence. I've been meaning to cancel you for years so I won't have your back.
There's very little I don't understand in the world from taxes to science through to religious fraud & women with beards & massive bananas down their gruts but for the life of me I cannot fathom why the green team has red text on the tele thing & the red team has green text on the tele thing. I'm very befuddled.
Good crowd but a quiet start. Atmosphere seems different to last year, almost like a traditional cricket match. Maybe it's cos Welsh Fire have batted pants.
Looking forward to seeing my team, the Poontang Boomerangs, playing tomorrow. Gonna be a hum-dinger.

Easy-Peasy - an amble through dreamy fluffy clouds. 31 balls still remaining. Just one less than the biggest 100 victory to date. King Vince and his Southern Braves are off and cantering. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTxg-15TfHg

Better game tonight. The greens were on top to start but the reds came back strongly only to be pipped at the post by the blues. I've got no idea which one of them was the Poontang Boomerangs though. Great format.

Great format. Liquid, a circus that won't help English cricket. Let's see if Mott the Hoople can identify some decent T20 cricketers. Why he has already ignored Vince is beyond me. Captain Vince and let Buttler just play. Hope you enjoy a proper white ball 50 over game at Hove tomorrow.

There's no better circus than Hove my friend. The Hundred generates more fans, more decent players & more cash than county cricket ever could. It's also good for the women's game & anything good for the agenda these days is a huge plus for the powers that be. They wouldn't get hooked even if they all came out doing Nazi salutes.
Just signed a 6 year tv deal, the circus is staying so get used to it.

It’s here for at least the next 5 years so might as well enjoy it. I enjoyed it last year and love that there’s a live televised game every night.
Hopefully SB can defend their title. Most of last years players have been retained (although Rawlins and Lenham were released) and they’ve added some quality in Marcus Stoinis and Finn Allan. James Vince is the ultimate short form captain and leads from the front.

I was against it but I really enjoyed it last year. I tune in tonight & we have Willey bowling at Buttler & Salt. What's not to like there? The trads are the prob & I'm generally one of them but the stadiums are pretty full, the kids are watching, the ladies are on a wave and the corn is coming in to help subsidise the very stale county cricket scene. The only issue for me is there's too much cricket. Something has to go, either one of the T20 types or the 50. This Connor in charge of summin right now has eluded to big changes in the schedule. It's needed.

What's ya worry S&F it just states the obs, that a few trads don't like it. So? It ain't for them. End ofs.
I'm talking so cool tonight.

The only way to save all 4 formats as they are is to lengthen the season. Perhaps play the 50 over stuff or the first few games of the CC in Feb/March overseas.

I agree one of the four competitions has to go, but which? Hundred - no chance of going anytime soon T20 Blast - end of big income stream for all counties but possibly fatal to the smallest eight if it goes One Day - still, arguably, the decider for world champions CC - attracts the smallest crowds but important for Eng v Aus test revenues. However, if scrapped, it’s easy to fill Be careful what you wish for.
