So it doesnt actually solve anything, just creates more talking points and more reserve days for reserve days ideas.
I see the idea of it but it just cannot work.

Will be interesting to see which bowlers are selected, on both sides, for the final test. The best lineup for England would include Woakes, Wood and Robinson but each of these has some fitness concerns so we might see Anderson and Tongue. I expect Murphy to be back for Australia and Marsh to get the nod over Green.

I think the Anderson selection depends on whether hes ready to retire or not.
Wood has to play, he's so vital especially on pitches offering bounce and carry.

Unchanged team so Anderson plays and Robinson doesn’t. Fingers crossed this increases the likelihood of Ollie R playing for us regularly in the remainder of the season. I hate to say bad things about England’s greatest quick bowler but Anderson is being selected on past performances alone. Hope he now goes and proves me spectacularly wrong.

The series is tied and so neither Joe nor I win the prediction competition! By the way Joe, if you’re still reading posts here, hope to see you back soon.
It’s been an excellent closely fought series, proving again that the best Ashes series take place over here.

Hail Bazball!
I am all-in. Best Ashes series since 2005 and in the top 3 of my favourites. It had everything, but a 3-2 win which England richly deserved bar the rain.
Moving ahead, who will replace Broad, Anderson and Ali? The team is looking old. Who are the youngster replacements?

Moving ahead, who will replace Broad, Anderson and Ali? The team is looking old. Who are the youngster replacements? Robinson, Archer and Leach, if fitness allows, with Stone probably next in line if he fully recovers. We also need some of our younger bowlers to step up such as Tongue, Potts, Sam Cook, Mahmood, Atkinson and Fisher. As for the next spinner after Leach, I have no idea. That’s our biggest problem position.

Just as the rain rescued Oz at OT, maybe it did the same for us at the Oval. With ball doing nothing on Sunday, maybe another hour's play could have meant more runs for our opponents which would have been a big enough advantage to see them home on the final day. A tied series, probably a fair outcome.

When you look back England shouldnt have lost a test match in theory, if they didnt declare first test its probably a draw. In complete control with the bat at Lords until bravado kicked in against the short ball. What pleased me the most was how they allowed Baz Ball to evolve, that showed the complete skill set of this side.
If Tongue and Potts are our next in line seamers we are deep sh1t though, both very average in my opinion.

There’s a cluster of contenders for our next generation of quick bowlers and we’ll have to see who emerges. Usually somebody does. It’s the same for Australia. Would make a big difference if we could get Robinson, Archer and Stone fully fit (though that’s probably asking too much of the injury gods). We’re well enough placed for bowlers in English conditions. Those capable of adapting to various overseas conditions is a different matter.
