They just allowed them to bowl at us, one criticism of Carter is he is a very slow starter and puts scoring pressure on his partners but that is very minor.
At least this wicket will allow a result!

Theyre not moving the game on at all, scoring 1 every 5 balls is fine if you score big .

203 all out, 39 behind the Glamorgan score and no bonus points.
Disappointing.

Very poor batting display, never once looked to counter attack. The plan seemed to be stick in until you get one with your name on it.

Is it the wicket or is it the ball? I have been here all day Joe (well except for the first 10 minutes, late arrival courtesy of GWR who cancelled my scheduled train) and I don't think it is either. Glamorgan bowled well with good field placings and just made it difficult to score. This combined with the loss of the two early wickets seemed to result in an overly cautious approach by our batters. Consequently, they dictated the pace and just waited for the wickets to fall. We never looked to be positive. 36 balls before we scored a run, 12 runs in the first hour, 62 minutes before a streaky boundary off an inside edge and just 55 runs before lunch. Similar story at the start of the afternoon session. In total only 138 runs in just over two sessions for nine wickets from Sussex today. The only time we looked positive was when H-P and Carson put on a partnership just before tea. How things can change in just one day. Completely in control at the end of day one with the prospect of a sizeable first innings lead. Now, we are chasing the game and may face a big run chase in our second innings. We never looked like taking a wicket in the last 26 overs, bar a big shout for a caught behind off McAndrew's very first ball and a good shout for LBW from Karvelas turned down by the Umpire whose already given five. Worryingly, they still have Carson, Root and Cooke to bat. Could have been even worse if Root had held the catch that would have seen Carson dismissed on two. If that wasn't bad enough, I have got another day of this tomorrow 😔😪.

Thanks Devon, always good to have a report from someone at the game.
I think there’s some rain around tomorrow and Wednesday, let’s hope so!

My take on the batting was that we were trying to bat time and build slowly a big score. The early loss of Clarke and Alsop set the tone. If we had gone guns blazing and been out for 150, then what? Shame we have missed an opportunity to get a decent first innings lead. But if we bowl well tomorrow and get early wickets there is everything to play for.

I hope it rains in Wales for the next two days because we're screwed.

Theres a huge difference between all guns blazing and being positive. We got back in the game with Carson and FHP scoring 40 in the first ten overs of their partnership, its about putting pressure back on the bowlers rather than going all out attack.

Let us keep the rain dance going. It may be our only chance of coming out of this game with 8 points.

Let us keep the rain dance going. It may be our only chance of coming out of this game with 8 points. A few spots of rain in the first half hour Wicked, but not anything near enough to force them off. It is brighter now and the sun is threatening to break through. I suspect tomorrow may be more likely if there is going to be any time lost to weather. Good start after lunch, but Carlson has arrived and he looks as if he means business. Runs seem hard to come by, chasing anything over 200 in the fourth innings may be very challenging based on the last four sessions.

That Carlson innings was the first time a batter has taken the game by the scruff of the neck and said im taking control. Its taken it completely away from us and something we should learn from.

Maybe a quick call to Daniel Bell-Drummond on how best to play against the kookaburra ball might be in order!

Maybe a quick call to Daniel Bell-Drummond on how best to play against the kookaburra ball might be in order! When he was fielding on the boundary once after scoring some runs against us, I said to him that he should come and join us at Hove. He replied, "funnier things have happened".
