A great escape. Typical of a season where so many games have ended as draws against the odds.

There was a lot of debate on this forum before the season as to what types of overseas players we should recruit. We’ve now tried all the permutations: one bowler plus one batsman, two batsmen and two bowlers. Of these, we’ve looked strongest with a bowler and batsman.

The lack of depth in our batting has been exposed. That’s meant, for instance, that Tom Clark has played most games without ever hitting form because we have no viable alternative. We’ve added to our bowling options for next year; we ought to augment our batting too.
