Monday's 2s game at Horsham been called off already. Why can't they play at Hove? Players need to play cricket. Seems a little premature to cancel it when we’ve got a weekend of good weather forecast. |

Good to see County 2nd XI games being played across the country.
But alas nothing for Sussex.
Why couldn't our game that was called off been played at Hove?
It's all very well the powers that be saying we have a strong squad with lots of competition for places; but some of our contracted players haven't any competitive cricket for some time.
Sort it out Sussex if you want to be taken seriously.

I think we'll improve on 3 competitions results last year. Im going to bump this one up, a bit nervous about the One Day Cup with 3 key players in the hundred but forever hopeful our young guns can prosper. |

It'd be nice to have a run in that comp too but its utter madness we have signed Huges up for some valuable experience considering weve lost Alsop, Coles and Robbo. |

Yep, 5 quality players missing. Who do we think will feature in our 11? Are Ward and Currie able to play? Are they on T20 or white ball contracts?
Lamb and FHP still available of course.
Haines, Clark, Carter, Simpson plus the 3 youngsters and maybe Ward for the batting. Ibrahim must be worth a go too.
Lamb, FHP as seamers, with Karvelas, Hunt and Crocombe likely to come into contention.
Could be Carson, Foreman or Lenham for the spinner’s spot.

Emilio Gay would have been an idea signing for Div 1 next season to open the batting with Haines but seems like Durham have snapped him up

Depends who we get as our overseas batsman. We might have Hughes for almost the whole season, half a season again or not at all, if he’s snapped up by a US T20 franchise.

Yes, fair to say that our overseas batsmen this season have each filled key spots, Hughes is arguably more important as he's an opener. As squarepoint says, who we have next season as an overseas bat will determine any domestic recruitment. As AB says, we currently need a solid number 4.

Jof and Ollie sign 1 year extensions. When and if Ollie loses his central contract i guess we will need to renegotiate.
Jof is available for the T20 semi too which is amazing news.
