Thought I'd try to create a separate thread to avoid trawling through.

The squad: Campbell Carter Clark (c) Crocombe Foreman Haines Hunt Ibrahim Karvelas Lenham Lion-Cachet Rogers Tear Well if nothing else this will sort the Men from the Boys. One from Campbell, Hunt, Karvelas or Crocombe to miss out. I suspect Campbell or Hunt, unless they want a look at Campbell. Can't see any point in resting Crocombe seeing not only how little he has played this season, but he has been one of the few pluses in the opening two games. Ibrahim may be the other, if they are prepared to go with Clark or Haines as sixth bowler. Otherwise a toss up between Tear and Lion-Cachet, unless they play one spinner, which I suspect is very unlikely. At least Rogers should get a go up the order. If there were any doubt in how serious we were taking this competition, then that squad answers the question.

XI should be Clark c Haines Carter wk Rogers Lion-Cachet Tear Ibrahim Foreman Lenham Karvelas Crocombe

The squad: Campbell Carter Clark (c) Crocombe Foreman Haines Hunt Ibrahim Karvelas Lenham Lion-Cachet Rogers Tear Good idea for Simpson to rest. Not least as it gives Carter a go with the gloves . FHP and Carson have been in and out, so they don’t need resting , surely. Personally I’m happy for us to develop players. It makes a mockery of the competition though. It’s pretty much 2s cricket.

The competition was madea mockery when the Hundred started we were just fortunate we had a stronger team in its first season with Pujara and Orr having exceptional campaigns. We are badly weakened by the lack of availability. I dont agree with the no overseas stance but thats the choice theyve made. You just hope these youngsters will learn what it takes to compete at the higher level and seek improvement to get there. Id go Haines Clark Carter Rogers Lion-Cachet Tear Foreman Lenham Crocombe Karvelas Campbell If in all likelihood we lose the next 2 games, id rest the bigger names for the rest of the competition and use them in the 2nd XI game at Gloucester for time in the middle before Scarborough.

We are bowling Haines Clark * Rogers Tear + Carter Lion-Cachet Ibrahim Foreman Karvelas Crocombe Campbell Campbell gets the nod over Hunt. It will be interesting to see how he goes. Shows how much I know, they have gone with just the one spinner. Tear with the gloves, I didn’t see that coming. Perhaps Carter being asked to focus on his batting. The ground looks a beautiful setting on the live stream.

Haines’ slow-medium might be useful on this track.

Again we’ll be highly reliant on our opening batsmen if we’re to compete in this one. We only got one win in this competition last year and we’ll be hard pressed to do any better this time.

The live stream pictures and replays are excellent. If out grounds can do this, then Sussex at Hove should get it sorted.

264 a very decent effort, but should have been better. The two dropped catches of Bess probably cost between 20 and 30 runs.
Chasing around 240 I would have given us a shout, 264 not so sure. Unless we improve on our last two displays with the bat then no chance.
Another very good outing for Crocombe, whose figures would have been even better if Haines had held onto the chance at deep backward square. At present he has been the real positive of the campaign to date.
A very good spell from Ibrahim and some good glove work from Tear.
Spin bowling continues to be an area for concern, where we continue to be reliant on young developing players as opposed to having any real experience.

A nice little collapse at the end there with Crocombe mopping up the tail, pleased for him and encouraging from Ibrahim in the middle overs. Hoping a run chase is more suited to this batting line up.

A decent display with the ball, although poor catching cost twenty to thirty runs.
I thought we had an outside chance when Clark and Tear were going well, but both out to soft dismissals. If you have just hit a boundary and you are in a strong position you don't need to try and immediately hit the next ball for four.
Once those two were out, besides Carter and a bit of Foreman there was nothing. I thought Carter went a bit early and could have taken it deeper.
Scores to date of 216, 173 and 212 with only two individual scores of over 50 and not being able to bat the full 50 overs in any of the three matches tell the story.
Quite simply the batting isn't strong enough. There are still five games left, so there are plenty more opportunities, but at present, the majority of fringe players aren't even close to being ready to step up. Perhaps the most perplexing is Ibrahim who looked a very real prospect a couple of seasons ago.
