I don't think Ibrahim brings anything to the party with bat or ball and I don't think he should even be in the squad based on performance. He averaged 10 with the bat and 42 with the ball in the one-day cup (he had 1 good game out of 7). If you want a bowler you go with Hunt and if you want a batsman you go with Carter. We need to not lose which is why I would play the extra batsman.
Thankfully England are playing which means no Brook or Root however their XI of Lyth, Bean, Masood c, Wharton, Bairstow wk, Hill, Revis, Bess, Thompson, Fisher and Coad looks very strong.

I think they might go for out and out Lamb replacement which they may decide is Clark therefore you can have the luxury of picking an extra batter, bowler or all rounder. Id disagree he offers nothing with the bat given he has a first class hundred and is still very young and raw. Carters a scrapper and that characteristic could be crucial in this run-in.

Interesting stuff, seems to be a consensus of playing the extra batsman and using Clark as the 4th seamer - so Simpson batting at 7? Strong batting line-up, and I know Farbrace has high hopes of Clark developing into an all-rounder.
Haines, Hughes, Alsop, Coles, Carter, Clark, Simpson, Hudson-Prentice, Carson, Robinson, Unadkat

The Carter, Clark, Ibrahim dilemma is a concern against what will be a strong side. (Fisher and Bess not in their squad though). I still think Clark will come good, as he has the shots. He looks less emotional in the middle this season which is a step forward. Carter has a major technical problem with getting clean bowled. That gets in the way of everything else. Ibrahim needs more time in the seconds, and some reinvention. He is not a lost cause but is now up against it if he wants a career in cricket. Question marks over his fitness too. He is, to be generous, languid between the wickets.

Know what you mean about Simpson, I'm just not a big fan of a specialist batsman batting at 7 behind the keeper.

He is, to be generous, languid between the wickets. Not a huge concern though, just how Farby wants to balance his side. If he backs Clark as his 4th seamer which i think he inevitably will its almost a luxury we can fit in a specialist batter at 7 or if they go down Jons route and have Simpson at 7 (where we'd probably want him in Div 1) thats huge depth in that batting order. The ultra aggressive move is to play Hunt. Unadkat averages nearly 18 in FC Cricket so more than capable. Good dilemmas to have.

Alsop, Carson, Carter, Clark, Coles, Crocombe, Haines, Hudson-Prentice, Hughes, Hunt, Karvelas, Robinson, Simpson* (wk), Unadkat
Answers probably within the squad given he's named 6 specialist seamers likey to go:
Haines Hughes Alsop Clark Coles Simpson FHP Carson Robinson Unadkat 1 of Crocombe, Hunt or Karvelas

Chunky tail but a good call. It would be a massive drop off to go from Robinson and Unadkat to FHP, Clark and Carson/Coles. and that’s presuming Unadkat is straight back to his best. It would still leave a strong top seven batting order, in theory.

Keeping their options open, either to play Carter or an extra seamer. If it’s a seamer, I’d go with Crocombe but it’s a fine call.

Most highly anticipated match of the season so far? I'm 'working from home' and'll be glued to it.

Batting first. Hoping the boys can go a long way towards grinding out a bore draw over the next day or so. 🤞

And Hunt plays, looked obvious from the squad how they were going to go. Its very aggressve and it shows the mindset is to win.

A brave selection. Too many bowlers for me. Two batters lite. It's going to be tough.
