Having returned from attending the Scarborough debacle, I am very much hoping that it will provide a wake-up call and that it isn't the start of the season fizzling out, though this will not likely be helped by the fact that PF has apparently applied and is 1 of 10 to be interviewed in September for the Yorkshire head coach vacancy.
In fairness to him and given that we have had a dressing room with experienced players like Alsop, Hughes, Simpson, Cheteshwar and Ollie Robinson this season, he might just be finally getting too hacked with the lack of progress this year from Haines, Clark, Coles, FHP and Sean Hunt (few players' heads go down quicker !!).
There is a lot of tosh spoken about the 'presence of overseas/experienced players' in sporting circles, but watching Haines, Clark, Coles, FHP and Hunt play at Scarborough, you wonder if they even speak to more experienced players or take on any advice !! And they'd rather play football before play than practice cricket skills.
Add to this at Scarborough the pointless contretemps between Robinson and 'Marmite Bairstow' in the first innings which resulted in the former losing concentration, the threat of more lost points for childishly being behind on the over rate AGAIN and an underwhelming performance from Unadkat (apart from an opening first innings spell), less than agile in the field and personal disciplinary points for throwing the ball at an opponent, a change of coach by PF's choice could happen.
However, on to Derbyshire, a different day, a different game, with Ari coming in for Sean, having been 12th man at Scarborough and comfortably outbowling him in the 2s the previous week at Rockhampton.
