Dare I suggest that character trait is probably a factor in his current exclusion from the England Test side. I would be very surprised if he retains his ECB central contract. This would create a twofold problem for Sussex. Firstly, will he extend his current contract with Sussex that I believe expires at the end of this season? Secondly, Sussex having to pick up the cost of his contract that won't be cheap. Robinson, along with Archer signed a one year extension last month That solves the first problem then, hopefully the potential to pick up the cost should that arise has been factored in when budgeting for recruitment over the winter.

I would go further than that; it has been irresponsible as well. It is almost a "batting" don't care attitude. Such a shame and waste of talent. Undoubtedly a fine bowler; but a complex character. He has signed a one year contract although whether he stays depends on whether Farbrace who is one of ten candidates rumoured to have applied for the Yorkshire post gets the job. He won't retain his central contract.

He won't retain his central contract. How do you get to that? Surely if he’s signed a contract, he is obliged to honour that contract. Contracts can be bought out eg; Simpson. Remember Ben Brown. More worrying, is the rumour about Farbrace. Why would he apply for the Yorkshire role, when he is close to taking Sussex to Div 1.

It’s a bigger club and they’ve got a number of good young players coming through. I doubt the rumour is true though.

He did his best today, fought hard but as usual he gave it away in the end, unfortunately. The fact is his run of scores so far this season are in keeping with a number nine. Haines also a concern. He was bang up for it at the start of the season, now he looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Comes across as an intense guy.

Haines like Clark give it away today and he looks a shadow of the player he was earlier in the season.
To the batsmen batting is not rocket science. It's just a case of not playing daft shots.

It feels as though the pressure is getting to us in this game. We're playing a good side, and losing this game makes our promotion chances wobbly. I'm not surprised we are getting out poor shot selection; it happens when you are pinned down, and most batters are scoring at two an over. Given that weather can take away potential wins against weaker sides in September, it's likely to be a tight squeeze. If only this dreadful weather today was taking place where it should do in Yorkshire!

Could be tight though if there are four or so sessions of play

No rain until 4pm tomorrow. Sussex need to double their current score to even make Yorkshire have to work for victory.

Now a stupid run out. Did the Sussex players leave their brains and common sense in Sussex? Absolutley dreadful unprofessional village standard cricket from Sussex. Judging by their continous excessive appealing are the Yorkshire players all on drugs?

Think the game has gone now with the loss of Alsop but we have 3 bowling points at risk as we are -3 on the over rate so need a few overs at them to get back to parity. Coles and Carson will need to open the bowling at this rate!
