The team looks well-balanced to me (on paper). Yorkshire to bowl first, presumably in bowler-friendly conditions, the likes of Coad and Moriarty could be a real handful. Eyes down for an intriguing game!

A brave selection. Too many bowlers for me. Two batters lite. It's going to be tough. The thing is weve only actually got 4 proper bowlers, the rest are bits and pieces medium pace. I like the attack and in theory this top 6 has to be good enough to pile on the runs we shouldnt be relying on 7,8 and 9 to get the runs.

Clark is effectively opening again after all 🙁

Is Farbrace stupid? If Clarke plays he has to bat in the middle order. I haven't been overly impressed this season with Farbrace throwing one or two of our less experienced batters under the bus.

I’m thinking anything over 200 would be a bonus from here (currently 94-4).

Oh come on . He played a crap unnecessary shot , after failing to handle the pressure . Yet again . It’s on Clark

But after a miserable run in the red ball opening, why is Clarke batting at 3? That's on Farbrace.

My point is , it doesn’t matter where he bats if he plays crap like that . And he’s has plenty of experience and has had many opportunities . Way more than his output merits in fact .

It was a bad toss to lose and Sussex are bottom of the bell curve on that this season. Toss becomes increasingly more significant toward the end of the season. Hey ho. Robbo et al should get stuck in.

Just to clarify, when you say you under impressed with Farbrace, what aren't you impressed with? Also Captains pick the batting order. If your not impressed with being top of the table and a home qf in the T20 what would have impressed you?

I’m thinking anything over 200 would be a bonus from here (currently 94-4). I have a feeling we’ll fall short but it depends how much of the strike Alsop gets! 250 would have been a decent score all things considered. Tough conditions for our batters today after being asked to bat with the ball swinging around under the cloud cover. Having said that one or two (or three) of our batters didn't help the cause with some injudicious shot selections. Another outstanding innings from the often wrongly underrated and forgotten Alsop. However, too early to be disheartened. We beat them at Hove in a low scorer with less runs than we already have in our first dig and having conceded a 45 run deficit. Let's see where things stand after they have batted. One thing beyond question is if we go up, this is the type of stronger bowling attack we are likely to face week in week out over the course of the season. The batting will undoubtedly need strengthening over the winter.

It will be great if we make finals day and we get promoted. I am not impressed with Clarke batting at 3. Give the lad a chance down the order. That would have impressed me. That's on Farbrace, not Simpson. I don't like seeing good young players confidence being beaten up. I know it's a tough game, but Farbrace needs to take care of his talent. I hope Clarke takes some wickets along with our other bowlers; and make it difficult for Yorkshire.

Very well played Alsop. Gave 1 chance early on; fine lines. Showed great application and technique. Hunt's LBW looked iffy.

Not sure I would say it's throwing someone under the bus, it's more like showing confidence in a player that you think they can do their job. What sort message would it send to Clark if having made his first class debut 5 years ago your coach still thinks you should be hidden away down the order?
