The Adelaide Strikers (AS) rollercoaster of a BBL tournament continues. After thrashing the Perth Scorchers a few days ago away from home... at home the Scorchers then thrash AS.
Unfortunately, Phil Salt's fortunes ebb and flow, for after his previous 51, he then scores just 4 runs today. Danny Briggs faired no better, bowling 2.4 overs for 24 and taking no wickets.
The Scorchers (147) thrashed the AS (146) winning by 7 wickets with 14 balls to spare. Jason Roy is enjoying an excellent BBL competition. Today, he scored 49 off 32 balls.

I'm in the middle of CA's autobiography which was given to me, not a bad read so far.
Taking an interest in education one thing I picked up on was that when he attended Chesterfield School, he kept referring to it as Chesterfield Grammar School, although it had ceased being a grammar school several years before he started when it became a comp thus dropping the "grammar" from its name, so why the pretentiousness? We're not talking Steying Grammar here which is a comp but retains the grammar in its title.
He then devotes a WHOLE chapter with the heading Repton, being the public school to which he was awarded a sports scholarship to retake his O'levels. He didn't stay on for A'levels so was only there one year and was fortunate this school had football on the curriculum, plenty of public schools don't with rugby in the Winter term and hockey in the Spring being the default options, the latter which he didn't like and the former he doesn't mention.
He must have been paid a fair buck at Sx to put his 3 kids through private schooling.

Want to see the ruins of the Sussex Cricketer Pub? Amidst the full lockdown, work has started where phase 1 is now complete, knocking down the premises and just leaving the front sign. All rather sad. The former entrance area? The right side of the restaurant?

And of course an even bigger buck at Surrey. When Jeffrey Archer, you know who he is dont you, was made bankrupt his poor (in all senses of the word) wife stated they were so hard up they could only just afford the private school fees. Adams was lucky living in Bolney when he took the Sx job that it was also a commutable drive to Surrey CCC.

Adams never lived in Bolney. You are confusing him with John Snow. Adams lives just outside Henfield where he's resided since 1997.

Adams never lived in Bolney. You are confusing him with John Snow. Adams lives just outside Henfield where he's resided since 1997. According to his autobiography (paperback), which I haven't yet finished, on page139 he says "The family was settled and we had just brought our first house in Bolney, having lived in a rented place for a while." Shouldn't that be "bought" unless they lived in a flatpack and transported the property from Derbyshire? Maybe he moved to the Henfield area after. Still a better car commute than the coast.

Then the question is, when did Adams next move to Henfield, or should I say Partridge Green which is a hamlet just outside.

Seems strange that he said in black and white they bought (assume an earlier typo) a house in Bolney. Seeing the close proximity of Bolney to Henfield, before your latest comment I was going to say it is possible to live just outside Henley and just outside Bolney and be in the same place.
Is it a hobby of yours to track down where Sx players live, you seem pretty precise on details? On the old board, far livelier than this forum (and I thought that was a bit slow), didn't you put a map and location of Luke Wright's address?

You only have to read the media to know where some well-known cricketers live.
Luke Wright's house in Newick was mentioned various times in local press because it resides next to fields formerly planned for a highly controversial housing estate. The country home of Piers Morgan is just a stones throw away.
If you find this Forum 'unlively', perhaps, you should go elsewhere. Given the present Covid situation, please let me know which are the 'lively' crickets Boards.

Which would make it even more unlively.
Why anyone would want to live near Piers Morgan when you see and hear more than enough of him in the media?

He’s lived in Bolney and Henfield in his time down here. Want to say Shermanbury or Woodmancote as well.
FYI Partridge Green is a village.

Probably only for his final two years though, after briefly leaving to go to Yorkshire? Seem to recall after his about-turn he accepted the contract that he’d been offered when Yorkshire first expressed their interest.
