Well, this serves us right for producing another slow track for the Aussies to bat on. Although we've made it more interesting with our carelessness. We don't have the edge because he's touring with U2, I mean because we've won already. We've ruined this game for BM by not scoring 600-5 off 200 overs, hope you ain't got a fifth day ticket here too BM. I didn't say the celebration was entirely premature HH. You said a little, I said a touch, then you said entirely. What a difference a day makes. To be honest I think you are about as wrong as GD in your views about this, in that your both a touch, not entirely, extreme. Just on the other ends of the ZX81, or spectrum as it's more commonly known. Both county cricket and England are decent most of the time but they're not faultless. Anyway, name me a journo that doesn't right any old b*****s on a slow day. I've read much worse premature championing than that. Sorry, fraudster, but the the ZX81 (launched in 1981) was the predecessor to the Spectrum (launched in 1982). You're obviously not old enough to remember this!

Dunno what you're on about Flash, that was just a very long-winded typo. Never heard of a Vic 20, I mean ZX81.

Khawaja is a joke. They will retain Voges I think. Also should select Klinger as a Rogers like for like. Smith has already stated he will be batting four according to TMS. Nevill is also likely to be strongly challenged by Wade apparently.

If you believe the rain radar, England need to survive until around 12:00 before the rain takes over for the day.
What's the betting they'll succeed?

Nevill is also likely to be strongly challenged by Wade apparently. Khawaja is much improved and the move from NSW has certainly benefited him. At 35 Voges is certainly not the answer and has been found out in this series. Klinger is doing well in county cricket but it is only Division 2 and the gap between Division 1 and Division 2 let alone Test Cricket and Division One is vast. Wade is nothing but a slogger and certainly doesn't have the mentality to bat long which certainly makes him totally unsuitable for Test Cricket. Nevill is the best man for the job and could be captain one-day having done a good job with NSW.

Coverpoint I think it's fair to say we have differing views on this one. But fortunately it is 4 years before the Aussies return to these shores. I am already erasing the next away trip from my memory as we are bound to get thrashed over there.

It is very odd that England have won the Ashes with only one Yorkshire player(Root) making a real contribution. Yorkshire are the dominant county full of English qualified players yet they are unable to provide the calibre of player required. This makes me question the quality of the Championship this season.

Yorkshire don't look so dominant on paper once you take away all their England 'flops' but there's no doubt where the title's going, so you're probably right oh Gull of Leeds. I think Warks have under-performed for sure and my other title pick from the start of the season, the Gulls of Hove, have had a shocker, for several reasons probably. The middle are worthy of second place I reckon, decent seam attack. England have won the Ashes though against the team ranked one in the world, before the series, so something's worked. Maybe world cricket is a little weak - actually, it definitely is.

England have omitted Bairstow from their one-day squad despite his 80 odd not out taking us to victory against NZ in the very last one-day game - what the hell's that about? Obviously they don't believe in the old 'only as good as your last game' saying. Well they're wrong. It was a high pressure and fantastic knock. What are the spanners doing? Has to at least be in the squad after that.

I can't believe Bairstow isn't in the ODI squad either. He should have been included instead of Billings who hasn't done anything for Kent this season and is just being selected purely based on media hype.

So England lost yesterday, mainly thanks to their new aggressive attitude. They won the T20 before that though, mainly thanks to their new aggressive attitude. Tricky one. Does this still count as the Ashes? If not someone should open up a new thread, given the traffic and posting about it on here.

As you didn't say, fraudster, it does seem to be attracting almost universal disinterest. Perhaps it is the "job done" attitude of the media that this is an irrelevant sideshow to the main contest, or perhaps it actually is quite irrelevant except to the ECB as a source of revenue. Does anybody on this forum actually go to watch these matches?

Well, that was a poor decision to give Stokes out. It is plain he was trying to avoid being hit, you would think in this post Phil Hughes era umpires would be aware a cricket ball coming at you fast is not to be trifled with. He wasn't even looking at the ball, and his simply arm swung round in ready to cushion his fall as he hit the ground. Being given out that way is tantamount to being called a cheat, from the way he marched off I don't think Stokes is best pleased, some anger management is required before the next match.
