Well done England, two points though. Whilst I applaud this new, positive England common sense should still apply, I feel with plenty of balls left we should have just seen Pat Cummins off, we didn't need to be chasing 4”s and 6's, all is well that ends well though. Second point, is there an unspoken rule that the MOTM has to come from the winning side, I would have picked Maxwell for his all round performance.Oh, third point, I really like Paul Farbrace, what a lovely chap, must be nice in the dressing room with him there. I agree, MrsD - I think the award should be for the best all round performance, whichever side wins. They seem to focus on the player who did most to help the winning team, which is an unnecessarily narrow view, IMO. I vaguely recollect a player on the losing side winning the award at some time in the past few years, but can't remember any detail, I'm afraid. Yes, and isn't Paul Farbrace refreshing - no mention of consulting the data, bowling in the right areas, or executing our plans!

The data in the link below suggests just over 6% of MOTM were on the losing side. 164 players, 227 occurrences - today's ODI was No 3623. stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=2;filter=advanced;orderby=awards_match;result=2;template=results;type=allround;view=awards

I think after consulting the data, if you execute your plans correctly, bowl in the right areas, 65% of the time someone in your team will win the MOTM award. And if you perform to your own ability, by fulfilling your personal duties, 6% of the time you, the individual, will be MOTM. Gotta admit, I like the new thoughtless approach. 2-2 against the World Champianos. I think we're gonna win the series, as long as none of the players start reading my data. Very impressed by willey - she said.

Early start in September, successful chase last time out, should have bowled you numb-nuts. Three down already and Morgan retired hurt, momentum's about as predictable as the weather.

It's a bit like the old Benson and Hedges cup, or whatever it was called, 50 overs played in early September in London, not Manchester, win the toss, field and win. Job done.

It was the B&H Cup and I loved it. Might have changed to 50 overs but I remember it as 55, and the Natwest Trophy 60, which we did win, although maybe under a different name/sponsor.
Anyway, enough of the good old days when I was a kid and spent most my time locked in the pantry or coal bunker, what of these days and this England team? Shocking today frankly but the turnaround since March is amazing really. I'm quite proud of England at the moment, cricket wise, so it's all pretty good to me. Well done England, except today.

Let's hope Morgan recovers quickly and doesn't suffer any short or long term damage from that blow on the head.
I cannot understand why fast bowlers who aim short balls at the batsman's head appear so shocked when one of them actually hits their target. Do they not understand cause and effect?
Here's a quote from Steve Smith: "I don't think anyone ever means to do anything like that, it's part of the game bowling bouncers". Well, Mr Smith, if you don't mean to do that, then stop ****ing aiming at his head.
I await a reply from someone who will tell me that bouncers have 'always been part of the game'. Well, I reckon it's dangerous to aim a ball at 90 mph at someone's head.

The selection of Fekete is a surprise. I had expected Pattinson, Sandhu or Abbott instead. Finch and Faulkner could have been selected too. Please O'Keefe is selected as the second spinner rather than Ahmed as he has been the best spinner in domestic cricket in Australia for the last few seasons. Wade as the backup keeper is another good selection. Bancroft and Fekete are likely to provide cover in the opening batting and seam bowling departments. Burns and Khawaja likely to open. Voges as vice-captain is a surprise. I would have thought Nevill, who has captained New South Wales, was a more obvious choice. au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/29518906/
