Yorkshire have won the toss and are batting and yet again we have not picked the right team!
No spinner and this 4 man seam attack.
Wells Joyce Machan Nash Yardy Wright Brown Jordan Robinson Magoffin Liddle
Surely Zaidi should have played instead of Liddle from the squad that was named? Or even better Beer could have played.

Does anyone know why Beer is still here?

Mrs Doyle, best limited overs bowler? Does anyone know why Joyce is still Capt? Does anyone knw why he (Robinson) pick a side that has the look of containment at best.
I was always told 'A faint heart never won a ..... ', this side is a faint heart!
Let's hope the weather gets worse and a draw stops the rot our only hope.

Forecast is promising lol, I would like to see Beer given the chance to be more than just our best limited overs bowler, and sometimes he isn't even given the chance to be that, maybe he would be rubbish, what harm can giving him a run do, really, maybe it will happen if we get relegated.

Why is Liddle playing? Why is Liddle even still at the county?

Liddle has consistently been one of our best one day bowlers and has been worth a place on the staff. Maybe it's been a year (or two) too many but it's hard to know when you offer the contract just how they'll go. He's only playing because he did ok in the last match, and is one of the few bowlers still standing.

He's only playing because he did ok in the last match, and is one of the few bowlers still standing. Two years too many. It's not hindsight as he was poor last year and yet for some reason only known to Mark Robinson he was offered a contract. What about playing a proper spinner (Beer / Zaidi) instead? Seamer wise Garton, Hobden, Sakande, Moses, Whittingham and Grant could have all bowled better than that! What is the point of having the expense of an Academy and an Academy coach if you are not ever going to use any players from it? Liddle, Zaidi, Piolet and Anyon should be shown the door at the end of the season as we will win nothing with these caliber of players.

All the usual problems, all the habitual farce.

35 extras including 13 no balls. The odd no ball in a day is excusable but 13! It's like giving the opposition an extra batman.

Our new ball problems go way beyond this game, even beyond this season. Along with a few other repetitive problems.
I could be wrong but I think these two games against Yorks are a great chance to mix things up a bit, like the 3/4 man attack and the personnel. We clearly think we're gonna lose unless it rains anyway what with our negative team selection. Why not chuck in the likes of Beer, H-P and Finch for these two and see what happens - it won't be much worse, if any. Might give some of the seniors a kick up the arse too.
Liddle's figures make me wanna cry out for Hobden. Should have played Hobden and Zaidi from that squad but I would be shocked rigid if our leaders ever got a team selection right - ever.

I missed the final session when Jordan bowled the greatest number of no balls, and it seems that he was straining to get anything out of the wicket. Earlier he bowled well in his first two spells and Robinson was magnificent throughout. At lunchtime, with only 4 extras on the board it did seem a different game from the rest of the season, though Liddle had already bowled a few ineffectual, costly overs. The biggest disappointment was Magoffin, who had one of his days, becoming more common this year, where he beat the bat many times but couldn't quite induce the edge, and finished with highly economical figures but no wickets.
Yorkshire looked competent but fallible. Lees played the best innings, Maxwell could have been out several times in his first two overs and looked like a slogger over-promoted in the order. Ballance obviously benefited from the tired waywardness of Jordan and Magoffin's frustrations, because he too looked ponderous, his familiar trigger movement of the feet placing him in the wrong position to play without overmuch reliance on strong bottom hand and keen eyes.
Good to see such a big crowd at Hove on a hot day in the holiday season. For once the suits in the Boundary Rooms were not the biggest grouping in the ground. Let's hope for another big turnout today, better luck for Magoffin and more acrobatics from Jordan....and an aggressive and confident batting performance from Sussex.
(Did I mention World Peace, and a bicycle, and a puppy....)

When was the last time a full session passed without a posting? Says it all.

Who will be our top scorer first time round? If all goes well, it could be a batsman.

HH it's because Magoffin's bowling too short. He needs bowl it two or three inches further up the pitch!
How often does Machan get out cheaply after a good first wicket partnership? He has a major weakness against spin which he needs to rectify. Patel, Nijjar, Rehman and now Rashid to name a few.

Looking at the forecast, we could do with reaching 200 tonight.
