Headingley, the final frontier...to boldly split infinitives where no team has split them before. Since the start of the 2014 season Yorkshire's record here has been Won 6, Drew 5. If there are to be miracles at Nottingham they will not be repeated this much further north. This will be a get-what-points-you-can kind of game.
No feedback on Robinson's sore shins or any other ailments so I'll simply list what should be the best team to take for this match, for which Yorkshhire will probably have their Test players released and looking for a last bit of fun before the rigours of training for the desert twirlers.
Wells Joyce Machan Nash Wright Brown Zaidi Jordan Robinson Magoffin Hatchett
Caveats: I know Wells has underperformed again, but we have no other opener. Yes, Yardy played a fine innings at Hove, but it is vitally important that we play an extra bowler and keep Zaidi's darts for the purposes of containment. They are more useful here than they were at Hove. Hatchett didn't look to be troubling anyone but unless one of the second-teamers is fit and in form then it has to be him, and unless he suffered reaction it looks as if he can bowl reasonably long spells to help out Jordan, Magoffin and Robinson. If we do have a match-winner or saver I would tip it to be Robinson and hope he plays and gets the 4 wickets he needs for 50 in his first season.

Difficult to argue with you HH, which is always disappointing.

Yes we need points to stay up ( and I'm coming round to the idea that it's probably best for the club ) but wouldn't it be refreshing if we could take a team up to Leeds which represents the future? Robbo and Joyce are so comfortable in their box it's unlikely that they'll think outside it but....
Salt Finch Nash Machan Wright Brown H-P Jordan Robinson ( Garton if unfit ) Magoffin Sakande
I would obviously pick Shazad above Sakande if fit.
A good mix of old and new, not a lot of spin option but we don't have a lot of spin option and I would suggest that should be top of our shopping list.

There must be an excellent harvest for illegal substances in Sussex this year. With posts like this, we could do with a dismember button. (Only joking).

We require 9 points to be safe if Hampshire somehow hit the bull. The weather at Headingley is allegedly fair with little chance of a rained off day and with rumours that certain top England players will be rejoining Yorkshire for this last game, so supporters can applaud their Championship winners, we need an anti-climax befitting Bradman's last International match.
Pray for miracles. If it can happen to Gloucestershire in the RLC and Fiji (edit: Japan) against South Africa at the AMEX on Saturday, why not at Leeds?

That's my second blooper of the week. God Dammit! I've actually interviewed Gerry Anderson some 10 years back. Came over as a decent guy but had a pretty miserable past family life. Sylvia was a "witch" and he never saw his son Gerry Junior for 12 years before they met up again and then promptly fell out once more, not to be seen since. As he famously said, "There are some people in show business who are proud of the number of marriages they've had." Not so Gerry. Now happily married to Mary with another son, Jamie, who breeds horses, the bitterness about his past is still there for all to hear. Even so, you can't knock the gigantic collectors market he created. Another famous quote from Gerry dismissing this legacy, "I'm a tomorrow's person. I don't collect memorabilia." Joe 90 is a "cool" name (quoting everyone under 30 years-old). Jump into your Sam Loover's car and roar 200mph down the road dude.

Ball by ball coverage will be on R5 Sports Extra. Currently the weather forecast looks reasonably settled.

Yes, that damn weather isn't going to help us this week. Our first objective is to acquire as many bonus points as we possibly can, and to try and make sure the game runs it's full course. It's highly unlikely that we can bowl Yorkshire out twice, whether we play five bowlers or not. If they are of a mind, they will score big whether we have Hatchett as a fourth seamer, or not. Better to play the extra batter and to try and accrue more bonus points, I feel. A draw looks our only hope, and we won't get that without batting for at least 7 of the 12 sessions. Yardy, with two centuries in his last three innings, including one against Yorkshire, has to play.

Updated forecast says rain tomorrow afternoon and on Thursday. It is chucking it down today. Yorkshire can use floodlights this season if light is bad.

Yorkshire have announced a full strength team minus Joe Root who has only played 1 20/20 all season. I would have thought England would have wanted Joe to have a bat before he goes to the UAE shortly.

No team announcement yet from Sussex, which might mean they are still grappling with injuries, or it might just be that, unless they have something to sell, such as dinner tickets, they really aren't all that bothered about communicating with their supporters. They are the first to complain about the ECB's information vacuum, but their own example has been very poor.

Or even one of the cousins, disinterest or indifference.
