I agree, but I think they were just rotating the squad. I don't think they rate Jordan as better than Willey with the white ball, and CJ certainly didn't improve his reputation this afternoon. Sam Billings was very impressive (man of the match!) but I suspect Buttler is still first choice at the moment.

Great entertainment from the 2nd T20 match - the game ebbed and flowed and there was a very exciting finish. I don't know why they bother playing so many ODIs and so few international T20s. The crowds are much larger and the atmosphere so much better at T20s.

I agree, and I think that provided the media can be provided with enough T20s to satisfy their needs - because how many more ads can you sell over 100 overs than 40? - the tide will turn very quickly. Tom Harrison must be sweating thinking about how to protect the investment in the 2019 World Cup when the 20 over game is expanding at this rate. A possible strategy might be to keep the integrity of that tournament by inventing some sort of league system in intervening years, qualifying rounds etc, so that fewer games are played but they are perceived to have more "significance". That goes against everything the ICC were saying up till now, but I see their reaction as old-fashioned protectionism.

I was somewhat surprised that Jos Buttler was chosen as captain with Joe Root in the team. As the official test vice captain it might be thought a good idea for him to have as many leadership opportunities as possible. Perhaps they are now thinking beyond Joe as the automatic successor to Alistair Cook.?

Sadly, CJ is bowling rubbish in his first over.

Sadly, CJ is bowling rubbish in his first over. He's the last person I would have given the super over to - but he was absolutely superb. Sam Billings is an ...er, confident young man. As the most junior member of the side, he had no shame in running in from the boundary and butting in the triumvirate of Morgan, Buttler and bowler in the interminable conferences towards the end of the Pakistan innings!

Agreed - CJ certainly redeemed himself in the super over - superb bowling. What fantastic entertainment we have had from this T20 series. A great advert for T20.

Mrs D I wonder what odds you would have got on a "super over" going for only three? Perhaps the Pakistan team can tell me?

Having reflected on last night's game I am left wondering if we witnessed the first fall out from the Southwark acquittal. Do all concerned now view the situation as one that they feel they can act in without fear of sanction?
The TMS team were staggered that Jordan was asked to bowl the super over. If you wanted to either lose or concede a lot of runs then he was the obvious choice. Faced with an unbelievable target of 4 to win England proceeded to take 5 balls to achieve it. It was as if both teams were doing their hardest to lose.
It is very sad that I believe that this was not a genuine outcome but I doubt if we will ever know the truth.

Maybe I'm naive but I don't think England would try and lose the game, I hope not anyway, let's be generous and put it down to trying too hard to hit the ball! That said I would never bother betting on any game involving Pakistan, not that I ever bet anyway, I couldn't be sure that it was a level playing field.
