I am merely repeating what Mr Agnew said several times on commentary yesterday. He entered no caveats but I suppose they rarely look into these things in any depth these days.

Have the West Indies deliberately picked their first three batsman on the basis that their first names and surnames are inverted?

Haven't Afghanistan been splendid and refreshing throughout this tournament? Attacking strokeplay, cunning spinners, oodles of talent and enthusiasm, only lacking a bit of fitness training and some nous in their fielding. Even now they are taking West Indies to the limit and are certainly deserving of a punning link:

Watched Afghanistan beat West Indies with my grandson Najiib. He is most excited that his namesake was man of the match, with 48 not out and a brilliant catch in the final over. Shame it's raining or else I'd capitalise on the moment and take him out for an isntant net in the garden right now!

Samuels Marlon? A stretch too far. Does anybody know what Gary and Phil Neville's dad is called?
So England have got a semi - I saw it coming, I was all over it on the polls. Good for them, I hope they can keep it up.
I haven't been able to watch any of this tournament as my dog's buried my SKY remote somewhere again but I don't like the structure of it. Not enough games - half as many as domestic comps, too many good teams out in the groups - very little room for error or improvement. More teams and a QF stage required for me.
So Fizz has impressed - have you worked out how fast he bowls yet HH - is it 77 or 87? Is his slower ball slow slow and slower, like BM reckons, or just slightly slower? A real conundrum only answerable by the cricket Gods, or somebody who can see or read. Just playing, you're the best.
Fizz will hopefully be a good player for us but his signing brings inbalance. We need a hard hitting number five.

England play New Zealand on Wednesday afternoon(our time). Apparently no side has ever won the tournament by being unbeaten throughout so both New Zealand and West Indies are due a defeat. As to the predictions I think most people predicted reasonably and England can count themselves very lucky to be still in the running. However "lucky" sides win things so I expect an England win now. That win will have been attained by players produced from the current set up. Therefore if it happens I expect all talk of franchises to be shelved and our missing two Championship matches restored! Dream on you might say. I'm not sure England were lucky, their score against the Windies wasn't bad, it was just Gayle that made it look poor, we have a number of batsmen who can take the game away from the opposition, and in each game one or two of them are likely to do that, our bowling could be better but in a T20 bowlers are going to go for a lot anyway. I wouldn't bet against us beating NZ.

Was discussing our prospects with a customer at work this morning, he was pessimistic, I was optimistic! Beginning to wish I'd put a fiver on them now!

The most mature, all-round performance from England I have witnessed since 2010. Roy was brutal and Jordan and Stokes excelled again. We're gonna win this World Cup. The momentum is with us.

Have Sussex got a death bowler at last? As far as England go I credit Farbrace 100%, we have looked a different team since he joined us.

I know what you mean, s&f, but I wouldn't use the word 'momentum' which has become a bit of a cliche (although I'm sure that wasn't how you meant it). I'd put it slightly differently and like this: England are a young side who are learning every time they take the field and therefore they are getting better every game, not just in terms of momentum or winning becoming habit-forming or self-belief but in the simple sense that their skills at this form of the game are improving with every performance. This is particularly true of the bowling, which is now unrecognisable from the rubbish served up v West Indies and South Africa at the start of the tournament. Somehow, in the short course of the five matches so far in this tournament, they've gone from naive to shrewd. I'd agree with Mrs D that Farbrace should take a lot of the credit, although Rob Key in his post-match punditry was hymning the praises of Ottis Gibson, too. Today was particularly interesting because I thought New Zealand played like the 'old' constipated England under Moores (i.e. batsmen too fixated on what was a par score rather than blazing away for as many as they could get; too slow to turn to the spinners when the pacemen were going the distance etc) and England played like the 'old' New Zealand when McCullum had the Kiwis playing with a total lack of fear or failure...

And I might add England will be an even better side when they drop Morgan (think they said on commentary he has only passed 40 twice in his last 20 white ball internationals?)
Luke Wright as captain would be my choice!

Updated figures for Sussex players in this Tournament. It's a close run thing which of Mr Fizz and CJ will be the bigger star. Ross Taylor will have to get a mountain of runs in all formats this summer, and I hope he does.

Wow - that semi was the match of the tournament.
But what was Dhoni doing giving the final over to a non-bowler like Kohli, who before today had bowled just 21 overs in 42 T20 internationals, instead of trusting Ashwin, the best off-spinner in world cricket, who still had two overs in the bag?
A bonkers hunch, and the sort of irrational decision that in the hothouse atmosphere of Indian cricket will probably be enough to get him sacked...
Fantatstic final in the offing, though - the most improved side in the tournament against the most experienced bunch of T20 global mercenaries in the world.
