F**k me, Finch is not gonna solve that problem. We've been playing two spinners for most the season it's just that the one that sometimes takes wickets hardly got the ball and the the one that never gets wickets bowled more overs than any other bowler - that's one of the reasons we haven't won yet. Who has got more wickets and runs for the seconds out of Beer and Briggs, I wonder?Where's Garton? You need to play your best four bowlers in a four man attack. Runs down the order are a bonus, the onus (that rhymed) is 100% on the top seven for runs when you play six batters and a keeper otherwise you are masking over issues. They'll still chip in. No number eight should be in the team for his batting. Briggs shouldn't be anywhere near the four-day team right now. Briggs and Robinson to miss out on this squad. The answer is that neither has covered himself in glory. Adding together the second eleven championship, trophy and T20 games so far this year the totals are Beer played 6, 185 runs, 6 wickets for 223 Briggs played 3, 24 runs, 2-91 Beer got seven wickets in his first match HH. It's not biased to include all second team games you know. It would be biased to include the first team games I spose. Even without a friendly or two that you've cruelly ignored, if you put one of those chaps in the squad on your stats alone, who's it gonna be? Shockingly different standards continue to be set against Beer, just like under the kid-killer. You're right though, wouldn't play either yet. Where's bloody Garton then Mr Know-it all? Best bowler until he got rested and ain't seen him since. He ain't on a bowling camp with Robbo is he? P.S. It should be Hatchett not Robinson in these conditions.

Garton didn't play for the seconds on Thursday nor did Mr Sauce. Guess they're both crocked.

Just putting the zebra steaks on. Always works well as you can even out the colours.

Sun beating down. Players warming up for 4pm start. 40 overs remain. Sun also beating down in the Heart of Mid-Sussex (TM), Pimms cooling nicely, trousers and shirt drying off from this morning's excursion...the rest of my life remains On edit: two balls in and Magoffin has a wicket. Am I envious? Has the Pimms lost its savour?

3 bowling points! Whittingham wayward at times and took a couple of lucky wickets but the scorebook won't say that. A great spell from Shahzad and the ever dependable English Australian. Thoroughly entertaining 40 overs of cricket.

Thoroughly entertaining 40 overs of cricket. Delighted to read about it and sad to have missed it. Well played, Sussex...onwards and upwards.
