With barely a pause for changing horses the bandwagon rolls on. Sussex in the ascendant, a whole one placeand two points clear of lowly Surrey.
An unchanged team, save for a replacement for Taylor is his problem seems to be severe?

With barely a pause for changing horses the bandwagon rolls on. Sussex in the ascendant, a whole one placeand two points clear of lowly Surrey. An unchanged team, save for a replacement for Taylor is his problem seems to be severe? The understanding was that Salt came in for Joyce because of the shortened game. If Taylor is side-lined by injury then Joyce will come back in and Salt keeps his place. If Taylor is fit then Salt will miss out. Taylor had a lot of physio work on his hamstring on the field before he carried on with a runner. He didn't come out to field at all. Is Wiese available for 50 over games? He would be a good inclusion instead of Briggs who was once again the weakest of the bowlers with Shahzad a close second.

We aren't allowed two overseas players are we? No but if Taylor is injured, could Wiese come in?

The squad is Will Beer Danny Briggs Ben Brown (wkt) Harry Finch George Garton Chris Jordan Ed Joyce Chris Nash Phil Salt Ajmal Shahzad David Wiese Luke Wright (c) Taylor has a hamstring injury, so Wiese comes in as overseas player, and odds must be against Briggs playing. Salt must stay, regardless of any deal done with Joyce over ultra-short formats; he deserves his chance to prove himself and won't continue to develop unless he is allowed to. Apparently this is the last 50 over game for over a month now. I shall not mourn for it. www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/preview-sharks-prepare-to-meet-surrey-in-guildford-clash

My XI would be: Nash Wright Salt Joyce Finch Brown Wiese Jordan Shahzad Beer Garton That's what mine would be too. However I think we'll stick with two spinners and Finch will miss out.

Apparently this is the last 50 over game for over a month now. I shall not mourn for it. Given the weather we have around at present, it might be another 32 over game (or less). Which probably suits Sussex just fine, as it seems the longer the format, the worse we get! Was going to go to Guidford as a kind of substitute for Horsham (it's only 20 miles up the road); but having spent the day at Lords and seen just 74 balls, I really cannot face dicing with another iffy-weather forecast.

Surrey have won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Much better balance to this side with Wiese at eight and Beer at nine.
But what about the rapid decline and fall of Danny Briggs? Left Hants because he wanted to play all formats and was given a pledge by Mark Robinson that he would be a fixture in all three competitions for Sussex. Then got dropped from the CC side after three games and has now been dropped from the 50 overs side after three matches.
How long can he last in the T20 side? In the last two games he has only bowled two of his four overs and it is pretty obvious Wright has no confidence in him.
Sacking Zaidi (although Yardy claims he wasn't sacked but "just moved on") in order to sign Briggs is beginning to look like a folly of major proportions...
Salt at the table after Nash's hors d'oeuvre lasts just three balls. Don't know what has gone wrong for Nash since his hundred v Somerset - scores of 4, 9, 12, 15,11 and 0 at an avge of 8...

Joyce gone after the rain break. Always hard to bat first when there are rain interruptions - and, possibly more to come. You never know what you are doing. Of course, some would say, that Sussex rarely know what they are doing, but that's not what I meant!

If it's a truncated match - and it's already down to 45 overs with more interruptions almost certain - Sussex have made a very poor start. Dificult conditions, may be, but 36 from the first power play (reduced to nine overs), is somewhat wasteful.

80-100 runs off the next 15 and we'll have a respectable total. Wright turning on the burners...

Meh I was looking between 230-250 but feel we didn't make the most of the last few overs especially not batting them out. Weise did well with the bat!….Lets hope he can have the same effect bowling too..
