What I want to know is who is the club's batting coach now Goodwin has gone home. Someone who can teach the openers how to bat without fear. Surely, not Greenfield? 1. I assume the club has been looking for Goodwin's successor since they first knew his stay was temporary. Announcement in due course? 2. I assume Greenfield's existing job is full time? I think it is probably for life

It has been disappointing how silent the club are re: Goodwin leaving and finding a replacement. One feels supporters should be told of such developments via the club's website rather than having to gleam the news from this Forum.

What I want to know is who is the club's batting coach now Goodwin has gone home. Someone who can teach the openers how to bat without fear. Surely, not Greenfield? On April 7, the Sussex CCC website said: "Murray Goodwin has arrived at Hove as Batting Coach and will be in situ for three months." s&f reported elsewhere that he left on June 4. So why has he broken his contract and buggered off a month early? Or was he sacked ? Was it really the plan to employ a batting coach for just the first eight weeks of the season? Seemingly not, according to Sussex's announcement, which said three months. Has he been sent home because he wasn't qualified for the job? Becaue it's hard to see why would he piss off after only 9 games of the season when there were another 29 games to go...would May or Filby care to elucidate? Goodwin has gone. Mr Fiz doesnt want to come. What is going on? Meanwhile, Glos have just beaten Hants to send Sussex into bottom place. There is zero chance of qualification, so when the comp resumes, rest Joyce and Nash and Jordan and hand over to Garton, Whittingham, Hudson-Prentice, Salt, Finch etc. Also rest Brown and play Cachopa so Sussex at least get their money's worth out of the extended contract he's inexplicably just been handed until the end of 2017.
