Here we are in the familiar position of needing to make up ground urgently with each game now a must to win. Surely we must beat Hampshire at home, with or without Mr Fizz?

Fizz has a plane ticket out of Dhaka tomorrow night and will be met at Heathrow on Thursday morning by Mark Davis or a.n.other club official. Allegedly. So he should go straight into the team on Friday night. He departs on Aug 3, so he's only here for just under three weeks, but unles he suffers further 'burn out' he is due to play eight games in 18 days - a possible maximum of 56 overs.
Is Kula Shaker also still around for this game?
Looking at the table, Glos and Glam are certain to go through, with two places between Essex, Surrey, Sussex and Middx and an outside chance for Kent, although the odds are against them as all of their rivals have games in hand and a far superior NRR.
My money is on Essex going through - they've hit form at the right time and Bopara, Zaidi and Ten Doeschate give them a fabulous trio of match-winning middle-order all-rounders. The fourth place I'm not prepared to speculate about but it would be nice to think Fizz will give Sussex the edge...

The for and against run columns in the table are v interesting. If I'm reading them right, Sussex have scored fewer runs than anyone bar Hampshire but they have conceded fewer runs than any team bar Glamorgan and Middx. I guess a couple of no results skew the figures a bit, but some of the disparities are huge. If spectators are paying to see run fests with the ball disappearing out of the park, Kent not Sussex are the team to watch. Runs scored by both sides in Sussex's T20 games this season: 2477 Runs scored by both sides in Kent's T20 games this season: 3667 Perhaps Kent should launch a recruitment camapign aimed at Sussex members under the slogan "Fifty per cent more runs for your money"...

This confirms what I think most people here believe of our performances this year. The bowling has normally been great then the batting... not so much. We win when either we: A) Bat first and set a BIG total via Nash, Wright and Taylor (Gloucestershire Away, Somerset Home) B) Bowl first and restrict them greatly through very tight bowling (Kent Home, Middlesex Home)
We haven't chased any totals that look even remotely high and outside our openers and Taylor our batting seems a bit light.

Well, I hope all this fuss and bother turns out to be worth it!

I'm not pinning any hope on Mr Fizz, I'm pinning my hopes on our top order batters getting some runs.

We have a squad:
Archer Beer Briggs Cachopa (w) Finch Garton Jordan Machan Mills Nash Salt Shahzad Taylor Wright (c)
Good to see Archer added to the squad but no Kulasekara or Fizz.

Cachopa retains his place due to sheer lack of runs.

Brown must of said something to suggest he doesn't want to play the shorter format because even as a batsman/fielder he'd get in the X1 most of the time.

Good side, right side - of the squad. Cachopa's the man in and that's that, I like the continuity at least. I'd like to have seen Garton in but Archer is an exciting prospect too, so fair enough. Archer's impressed me and with Garton and Whittingham too there's at least that to be happy about from our attack, for now and the future. These three seem to be something decent to progress with and build around, from my limited vision.
Not confident about chasing again, we've done it poorly so far. At least we didn't choose to. This is must win, we look considerably stronger on our favourite surface, paper. Hopefully we can be on that strange thing they call grass as well.
Boom Boom booms, and then goes quickly, as usual.

Dawson better score big for Hampshire as he is already responsible for the run outs of Alsop and Afridi.
Whoever allowed the vuvuzelas in the ground deserves to be shot! Get on with the game!
