Fantastic! CJ performing as he should and how we all know he can but hasn't up till now! What a find this young Archer is, perhaps the all-rounder we've all be asking for ( especially Jonboy! ) With Wiese, Archer and Jordan we look a more balanced side with batting ability down to the tail, not forgetting Briggs who showed what he can do too. A real shame about Finch as he was just stating to show that he had promise. Perhaps Christian Davis will be given a chance in the next game? We can win this game, need early wickets. I would give Archer the new ball when it's available. Cmon Sussex, believe! Quite right joe. The doom and gloom is all with Essex today: "Splendid maiden century by Jordan, who looks considerably the best player on the park, & supported by Briggs takes game away from Essex to gain decent lead . Takes the top order to knock off the deficit, and it will now need a mighty effort on a wicket that still looks OK to save " and " One or two poor shots by our batsmen again & we need at least another 150 possibly 200 tomorrow from mainly Fossie & Tendo, a draw may be all we can get but we must avoid defeat at all costs."

Well we haven't got that early breakthrough, and thoughts of an unlikely victory are starting to slip away

If Essex score another 80 runs we could end up having to chase 240 off 40. Deal or no deal?

No deal. You just cannot be this profligate with gratuitous extras.

I'm sure we'd have a go at 200 in 48.

Will we reach 100 extras in the match?

Will we reach 100 extras in the match? Heading that way, 80 so far. There are a lot of positives to be taken from this game but the amount of extras we concede is something which needs addressing.

Well it's tea here and I've just had a jacket potato filled with grapes, yum yum. It's tea at Chav Central too and this game is over. Incredibly we're going to draw - I think it could be our first. Mags and Briggs utterly ineffective, a complete waste of two positions and under-bowled because of it. We would have won this game if we had Chawla, or even Whittingham and Garton. No question with Chawla.
You're obsessed with sundries Stoner, it's becoming an illness mate. It's been an illness of Sussex's for years. I would bet my last 50 bucks blind that we have conceded the most no-ball runs in all of the last three seasons, minimum.
As for chasing 240 in 40, of course you do you plant-pots but if it goes tits-up early you shut-up shop don't you. You're not gonna lose regardless so you chance your arm and see where it gets you. Honestly, some of you people seem to watch so much cricket yet I often wonder what the hell it is you really are watching. Especially you S&F, Christ knows what you're looking at.

Why can't we take the negatives from this season, they're as abundant as low-lying fruit?

Why can't we take the negatives from this season, they're as abundant as low-lying fruit? The four day nightmare continues - two victories in 20 matches since May 2015. And it's not as though Sussex can claim they've targetted white ball cricket instead. In the RLC I think Sussex have won one game out of 18 since Aug 2014 and the T20 lottery isn't much better - although the county did at least make the q/fs last season, which suggests we are getting worse not better. Where are May and Toumasi? Their response to Sussex's crisis of confidence seems to be to keep their heads down and to let Wright and Davis take the flak. That's not exactly leadership, is it? I fear Sussex are now at the rock bottom position where Kent were circa 2010 - and it has taken Kent six fruitless seasons to get back to being anything like a competitive side. So are we going to have to await a Sussex revival until 2022? There is a posible alternative. Look at what the inspirational former Sussex batsman Wasim Khan has achieved in a very short time at Leicestershire. A natural succesor to Toumasi, who is 61, not in the best of health if his lengthy absence last winter is anything to go by and who has already served as long as Dave Brooks did? This is what Brooksy said when he left: "When I was appointed I promised I would do three years. In the end I've done four and I feel I've achieved what we set out to achieve. I've always felt that a period of three to five years was the right time to lead an organisation." I've no idea if Toumasi feels he has "achieved what we set out to achieve". But Brooks was a lot younger, fitter and more energetic than Zac. Whether Toumasi judges himself to have been a success or a failure, his predecessor was surely correct that 3-5 years is the right time frame and Sussex now needs fresh blood at the top to implement a plan that will re-energise the club.
