So, the final game of the season is upon us, a season we probably would rather forget.
There is rumour of this game being a day/nighter played with a pink ball. Quite who will still be at the ground at 8pm on a chilly Sept evening I don't know but I think the ECB see this as a chance to try it out in a game with no consequential result.
No Joyce, Wright, Machan, Finch, Whittingham, Wiese or Garton. Hopefully Wells will be over his eye infection and will play.
My best guess at a team:
Nash Hudson-Prentice Wells Salt Brown ( c, wkt ) Robinson Jordan Archer Briggs Sakande Magoffin

What is wrong with Wiese now? If he isn't fit or available then your suggested team is all that they could choose from, except for Cachopa or Beer.

This pink ball stuff is nonsense. What can they possibly learn from playing in September with all the dew/mist etc? As I recall the last match played at Kent was heartily disliked by the players. As to the poor spectators silly enough to sit around at 8 o,clock ....

As to the poor spectators silly enough to sit around at 8 o,clock .... Nothing. But there is determination to try it out in a Test in the next year or two and they want to be able to say "yes, we have trialled it in county cricket and none of the players were killed because they couldn't see the ball", or something of the kind. When they do it in a Test they will market a big dinner hospitality package and make even more money with even less of the actual contest being watched.

The Gloucester squad www.gloscricket.co.uk/17120-2/ includes a teenage wicketkeeper-batsman, James Bracy, and coach Richards Dwason doesn't "..see the final match of the season as a dead game". He also thinks that Sussex have some dangerous batsmen. Hope so. Payne is back to partner Miles in the Glos attack, and if Norwell doesn't come to any more mischief they ought to be a stronger bowling unit tham at Hove. Roderick (c), Dent, Marshall, Bracey, Hankins, Mustard, J.Taylor, Miles, Payne, Norwell, M.Taylor, Shaw.

Perhaps we'll see Rawlings play in this one?
Interestingly he's 19 years old and only 4 months younger than Garton.

I would assume that means farewell to Cachopa if two rookies are brought into the squad ahead of him?
He had a golden year in 2014 and looked a fantastic signing at the time, unfortunately for him and for Sussex that promise hasn't been fulfilled. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but extending his contract until 2017 may now cost the club to pay off his final year.

And no mention of it being a day/night game on the Sussex website.

And no mention of it being a day/night game on the Sussex website. Nor is there mention on the Leics website for their match with Glamorgan, so perhaps the ECB have become convinced by both clubs that it isn't practical, at least at this time of year. Hope so.
