I think he has similar potential to Jofra, but have real fears that we may lose him Other, less talented players have signed contract extensions, but no news on Delray It’s worrying

As with Haines and Finch in the CC, Rawlins has been given a long run in the Blast. Before this score of 69 he’d scored 81 runs in 7 starts at an average of 11.5.
I think he’s got potential and can play some lovely looking straight drives but his favoured hoik across the line will see him get out more often than not.
Not in the same league as Jofra.

I'd hate to lose him. There's some raw talent there that needs to be nurtured and developed.

We really can’t afford to lose him. He’s going to be a star in all forms of cricket.

Why do people keep suspecting he might be leaving?

Why do people keep suspecting he might be leaving? He’s out of contract isn’t he?

No news is worrying news. I imagine he's mulling over several options. We've surely put our offer on the table. It may have helped if we'd have played him more - why he wasn't picked in the 50 over comp after the impact he made in the T20 the season before is one of many moronic decisions made by our management.

If selected Delray will play his 50th T20 game for Sussex tomorrow night.
When does potential have to be replaced by performance?
Everyone remembers the perfect straight drive for 6 and holding the pose for the cameras but he can’t keep dining out on that ad infinitum.
The numbers aren’t great. With a batting average of 22 (only passing 50 3 times) and only 15 wickets from 49 matches.
His ground fielding is excellent as is his catching but is he worth a place in the team for that alone?

He is 24 in September and there are many Sussex players who haven't had a fraction of the opportunities he has had before being released.

May as well give him the whole campaign now. 22 is better than I thought, not that bad. Anything over 25 is decent in T20, especially at a decent lick. What's his lick? He's multi facical, or whatever the word is. He's a three-way hero, a triple threat. Coaches love that.

At times, Delray is a show pony without the pony.

He’s made 848 runs from 43 starts which gives him an average of 19.72. His strike-rate is 139.

We all acknowledge that Delray has ability. However, he is not showing it consistently. He is no longer a promising youngster. His apparent inability to manage match situations is surprisingly poor. His body language says it all. Unless he can turn his form round by the end of this season, he should be released.A win win for all. I suspect a change of scenery, new ethos etc etc will do him good. It will also allow Sussex to provide more opportunities to younger talent. If, if he does warrant another contract it should only be for max 1 year.
