The Times correspondent exaggerated the crowd attendance purposefully. He's a fan of outgrounds and wanted to give Horsham a fanfare! Official crowd between 2,250 and 2,500.

413 and 4 batting points is good. Now the important part of the game. What can Mags and Jords do, why is Hatchett given a game and not Hobden? Can Jordan shake off the England taint, remember that he plays for a team called Sussex, I really hope so.

The weather looks hot, hot, hot for the next two days, so this match has a draw written all over it. If Sussex can gain maximum bowling points, which may be tricky, coming away with 10-12 points is still a good result.

Can see Warwicks matching the Sussex score, but it will be around tea time before they do, so 400 plays 400 on first innings with only four sessions of the game remaining. Not sure now whether to got to Horsham tomorrow or to the final day of the Surrey game 20 miles up the road at Guildford, where a result looks likely. Good to see Trott's ongoing recovery. He looked composed with the bat after a streaky start and a couple of let-offs when he nicked Piolet to Brown but was given not out and then nicking Tredwell only for the keeper to drop it. He was also very personable down on the boundary in front of us in the morning session, bantering with spectators and giving as good as he got. He was even asked if he fancied taking over the England captaincy from Cook, and ruled himself out in agreeably witty fashion. Tredwell was excellent, I thought, getting some nice loop and throwing the ball up above the batsman's eye line. Should have had two wickets but Brown and Joyce dropped pretty simple chances.

The weather looks hot, hot, hot for the next two days, so this match has a draw written all over it. If Sussex can gain maximum bowling points, which may be tricky, coming away with 10-12 points is still a good result. The sun has leached out all the early moisture in the wicket and fewer balls now lift obediently, even for the mighty Boyd, the bouncerman Rankin. In fact his most effective bowling of the innings came in his last over when he pitched balls on the stumps - and, oddly enough, took two wickets. Who would have thought it? Sussex have bowled well, and mostly quite intelligently, but a very good innings by Chopra and a very pragmatic innings by Trott seem to show the way forward that s and f hints at in his his usual delicate, understated way. It could be that the pitch will break up completely on the fourth day, and Nash and Tredwell will have some fun, but to get there, we have to pick away at the Warwickshire batting, bit by bit. Tredwell showed some possibilities late this afternoon, and Ma goffin might be a key player tomorrow morning, moving it a little and finding the dents from the first morning. Jordan will have better days, and perhaps this match shows exactly why bowlers in the England squad need to be in regular practice in the middle: net bowling is not excuse for the real thing, and running down the wicket shouting and glowering isn't half as much fun as the sight of splayed stumps or a slip with the ball held aloft.

Tredwell continues to shine. First, an excellent 33 runs and then only 28 runs off 15 overs with 6 maidens. Not even Monty achieved that control in his Sussex pomp. Good to see Trott on his recovery path. PS: Loved the fact Leesy called Cachopa, Capocha, during yesterday's BBC commentary. This lead to a series of disgruntled tweets from listeners where one suggested John Lees should be the BBCs 12th man. Today, he had no idea who the actual Sussex 12th man was and asked for help from the listeners. A: Harry Finch. Meanwhile, Leesy interviews Robbo at close of play today. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A6tk-FvEGc&feature=youtu.be&list=UU50wZUsUCBzXWsFn0vmaOAA"Cachopa, Capocha, Coachpa, Pacocha... I'm cool!"

S & F my spies say SCCC under stated the crowd and car parking, car parking underestimate by 200 cars!
My spies say crowd nearer 4000 on Monday, and 2500 yesterday. Times again talking up Horsham. Good wicket, pace. Another exaggeration? Was it really slow and low like Hove?
From where I was it looked far busier than Hove ever does. I'm planning to go Sunday, we should meet for a chat about Sussex>

Well at least Trotts gone, a dent innings but in all honesty, they should be all out by lunch. I've lost count of the chances we've missed in this innings. Is it 7 catches and 2 stumpings missed?

Yes, indeed. On reflection (and based only on what I've seen), I think our close catching has been below par this season. Has anyone else thought the same?

Congratulations to Steve Magoffin in emulating Monty Panesar by taking 50 wickets in a season for three years running. Next up, Mushtaq who did it for five years in a row.

I hate to say it and I know a lot will disagree but Sussex must make the draw safe. A lead of 80 on the first innings and now Nash out cheaply so the only real result should be a draw. Warks are a good team and asking them to chase 275 in 75 overs might not be too tricky for them.

Draw should soon be secure then how ambitious will Edmundo be? I am not expecting much ambition in the declaration. From the scoreline the pitch sounds very easy and I think Warks chased down a big total against Notts the other day (I just checked and it was 289 so not that big a chase). Almost 250 ahead now, they have shown more ambition in their batting - not sure how many overs left, maybe five or so? 12 points from the game is not bad, 23 would be better and make first division a lot safer (especially with MDX now joining the stragglers) and Warks are not in the competition for second bottom. So I would say bat for an hour tomorrow and leave about 340 off 75.

again big Boyd gets two in an over, both set batsmen gone with Sussex 264 in front. I thought cricinfo normally gave the number of overs left but I cannot see it today. Jordan and Luke Wr together so maybe time to tee off. Try and get 300 in front by the close. But we do not want to lose this game, Sussex are scoring at 4.5 so that should be factored into any declaration Luke hits his first ball for 6

A Day of Moments: Trott scoring 100 - his first 1st XI one since his ill-health. : Magoffin becoming the first Division 1 bowler to secure 50 wickets. : Cachopa scoring two 50s on his Championship debut. : Handbags between the BBC and Daily Mail after they used a BBC staff photo of Trott carrying ice-cream without accreditation. The accreditation finally came after the BBC threatened a law suit! www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-2702811/Jonathan-Trott-scores-Warwickshire-against-Sussex-finally-good-news-England.html: John Lees pronouncing Cachopa's name correctly. : Trott walking off with a scowl at the ground after his 106. Not a smile or acknowledgment to the crowd. So, nothing changes there. : Joyce trying to get himself out after he reached 70. "Which bowler wants me!" Was his hamstring giving him trouble? : Robinson and Davies sitting close up to the 'Railway End' sight-screen for hours today, so they could get the perfect view of the bowlers arm. : WI-FI non existent at the ground. Some journos were having to send copy by phone not seen since the 1990s! : Another wonderful sunny day. Another wonderful day of Championship cricket.
