Magoffin doesn't seem to have bowled since the 43rd over. We've now had 74 overs - hope he's OK . . .

Thank goodness, the pain is over. Notts: 80-5, 180-7 to 447 all out. Can Sussex survive the final 20 minutes? We are staring at a nightmare scenario given the seamers Notts have which includes Stuart Broad. No wickets down at close and that's a huge bonus.
edit: And that nightmare scenario begins. Nash goes Lbw. 7-1. Now Finch goes for Lbw. 7-2. Are we surprised? Now 7-3. Whittingham's stumps flattened. "Sussex in tatters," says the Notts commentator.
Whew! Thank god the day is over. It could have been 4 or 5 wickets down. Really don't know what to say. From Notts at 80-5 to 447 all out and then Sussex 11-3 at stumps.

Davis and Wright need to take a long hard look at themselves.
Time for Grizz?

Davis and Wright need to take a long hard look at themselves. Time for Grizz? Maybe, but this certainly cannot go on

I post on here incredibly rarely, partly as I've not seen a game since 2010 (dog who doesn't like crowds and self-employment) so apologies for that... But, without keeping tabs on camps, why the obsession with Adams? It's not as though he has had a stellar coaching career, or a history of being relied upon, plus it keeps in with the jobs for the old boys ethos... Kent have quietly pulled off a bit of a coup with getting Gillespie in for however long they have him, there's plenty more ex-pros with coaching badges available than potential opening bats who don't fancy 8-3

I agree with henryr on two counts. Kent have pulled off a coup in getting Gillespie, and the more so after the confusion and near catastrophe of hiring Donald without getting a proper visa. Good luck to them.
Whatever the source of the problems with Sussex the answer is not to appoint Chris Adams. A lacklustre coach, a manager who tragically lost control of his relationship with his players, a man who seems to reflect on his choices only after committing to them: these are not the traits that Sussex need.

In the context of our coaching woes, no-one seems to mention our Director of Cricket. He keeps a very low profile and I wonder if his brief is restricted to activities below 1st team level? I thought a Director of Cricket should be leading from the front. I wonder if he has any authority over the coaching staff? His role confuses me.

If Shahzad and Wiese weren't fit I would have played Whittingham and Garton. What is the solution? Have a whole team of South Africans and journeyman cricketers!
