Round 2 of our undefeated campaign in this comp. Will our new O/S be here by then? If he is and is injury free then he will play. It may be a good idea to rest Archer for this one but I don't think they will. I'd include Garton just to see what he can do as he's the only one of the youngsters not to feature yet. My team would be:
Nash Wright Finch van Zyl Evans Brown Wiese Briggs Taylor Shahzad Garton

Just realised that was my 1000th post! Congratulations. And I noted the irony of the "undefeated campaign" reference.

Interesting team Joe. Leave out the most economical bowler! Play the most expensive. Rest Archer? Too much cricket? Perhaps 2nd season syndrome? He's got to play at the moment. I think Taylor, if available, for Shahzad, Garton, I'm not sure we have enough accurate seamers to play him. He's not the most accurate from what I've seen, so another sprayer will only add to the score board. Congrats on a 1000,

All the young pace bowlers should be rested in my opinion. Archer had a serious back injury two years ago, the last thing we need is for him to be injured again when he has become our brightest prospect. Interesting to compare the stats of Archer and Garton in list A. Archer 4 games, 7 wickets @ 30 with an economy of 5.48 Garton 8 games, 15 wickets @ 26 with an economy of 6.26

I can see some merit in resting Archer, we did flog the guy during those championship matches, but on the other hand, he's probably been our best batsman.

Hi all.
After a tough football season trawling around the far flung corners of Ryman Premier League following my beloved home town team Burgess Hill Town Fc I had been really looking forward to some warmer weather and following the fortunes of Sussex CCC. I saw the opening session and Saturday of the Kent match and was at Trent bridge for both days. Perhaps it was a little strange seeing a Sussex supporter late on Saturday wearing the biggest grin and fist pumps sat in the Notts pavilion. The Hillians had avoided relegation in the 98th min !!!! Sam Fisk.
Any way its with baited breath and excitement that my daughter, her boyfriend and myself will be visiting the 1st Central County Ground tomorrow for the Royal London Cup fixture against Somerset (11am start).
I fear though that we might be in for yet another disappointing weather related afternoon as the BBC has pegged rain from about 2pm and not for stopping. It could be that we celebrating another point towards the 9 needed for the quarter final.
Good luck to all Sussex CCC connections tomorrow especially the amazing ground staff at Hove. You might be in for a busy afternoon (covers on covers off if you catch my drift)
Colin
Just as a positive I saw us beat Somerset at Taunton in the t20 cup two seasons ago !

Same squad as Lords. Weather looks as if it may play a part again too, heavy rain forecast from 3:00pm.
Taylor due to arrive tomorrow and should play on Tuesday.

Some fast medium spin being used by the magnificent Sussex Marketing team in advance of this match:
The Sharks’ start to the campaign was curtailed by the weather on Thursday at Lord’s, as the points were shared between the sides with only four overs of Sussex’s reply was possible due to rain. Will Beer, Danny Briggs, Ajmal Shahzad and David Wiese all picked up wickets.....
Titanic's arrival delayed by adverse weather conditions. Atlantic crossing time otherwise ahead of expectations.

Titanic's arrival delayed by adverse weather conditions. Atlantic crossing time otherwise ahead of expectations. Honestly, who writes this stuff?!! Well, to be serious, this kind of muck is even worse than the numerous typos, clangers, failures to check facts and so on, because it is pretty contemptuous of its audience. There is nothing wrong with putting a brave face on things but for goodness sake, be honest about the performance and don't assume that your audience are so stupidly, spinelessly sycophantic that they will swallow any old rubbish chucked at them. It seems that the departure of Tom Rose as Marketing Manager - not yet replaced as far as I know - might be as big a blow as the exit of Joyce and the inability to find a fit Overseas player. Under Tom the Marketing output had improved considerably and there was a consistent presentation of strengths in the messages sent on News pages and other promotions. Now it looks as if any old rubbish will do because nobody believes it anyway, a Trumpian view of the audience that ought to sound off alarm bells for Rob Andrew.

This sort of rubbish insults the intelligence of its audience and diminishes the club's credibility - not the intended effect, I'm sure.
