Right, hands up, who of you were at the game? Seems to me too many comment from an armchair and haven't seen the game. Garton bowled well Joe. Seems if Sussex got within 9 on a D/L chase and re-calculation, i'd say they did OK. Can't be easy chasing such a big score in a few overs? Agree Nash, LW & SvZ need to get runs. The seamers need to tighten up at the end. Wells & Machan won't offer any more in this format, Robinson might. Taylor arrives for Glamorgan, leave a seamer out, but which one? Wiese? Discuss. My hand is up - at least for when Somerset batted. I missed our run chase. I thought all the bowlers did OK generally, but once Edgar and Hose got on top we didn't look like breaking the partnership and the run rate rose steadily from 4.19 (the lowest I noticed) to 6 or thereabouts. That makes a big difference. Once they were on course for 300, we looked beaten. I didn't see Sussex bat, but from what I could tell from "my armchair" was that we were always likely to fall short assuming Evans' luck didn't hold for a few more overs. If it had been a full 50 over a side game, I am not sure we would have got so close as we did.

Hi, First post as only just discovered this site. Glad I have. Not the greatest at internet searching and found it odd that couldn't find site for Cricket but some are talking about Sussex on the Brighton Football sight. Am a Sussex member and attend when able to. Am quite mixed about Sussex and yesterday found the game almost a classic Sussex performance. Started well, then taken away from them. They did fight back though, of course weather playing havoc with the scoring, but not quite there. I felt it would have been unfair if they had won but it was a tight-ish finish.
A few things bother me with Sussex. We seem so much quieter than other teams and any of the on-field encouragement seems a little false. I also feel that players seem to me to be more under pressure, than supported by many, not all, fans. We got smashed by Kent and ones that posted on other site (and when I went for a cuppa in Pavilion) were straight away sounding off at how bad Sussex were. I only normally go in the Pavilion when its raining or too cold to sit outside at lunch but all I seem to hear is moaning. I just feel that rather than moan fans should offer support. Of course supporters have the right to say (within reason) what they feel and they do care for their club but, to me, its all too negative. I move around with my work on contracts and watch where I can, Derbyshire fans seem to support their team far more still despite almost never winning!
Of course there are problems with Sussex but what gets to me more is the complaining and dejection. Maybe I have a different outlook! Of course people on sites like this want the best for the team and sport, and at times we must agree to disagree, but encourage and support a team at hard times is to my mind so important.
Hope the new guy hasn't upset too many regulars!!

Kudos Pudos, I guess as one of the dissenting voices, I am probably one of those whose downbeat demeanour "gets to you" People have different tolerance thresholds, and as a naturally pessimistic person, especially where Sussex are concerned, I can see few positives. That's not to say that there aren't any, there are, and the emergence of a few young players is most welcome. In general though, it's been a downward spiral for a few years now, with no signs of anyone being able to halt it. The decline has been dramatic, from being division one title challengers, less than two years ago, to being a side that isn't even competitive in division two. I do look for signs of encouragement, believe me I do, but it just seems to be more of the same. Anyway, welcome to the boards, it's always good to have someone on board who perhaps sees more positives than I do

Thanks. Maybe I feel only positive thoughts can help in turning things around
