Fantastic day for Sussex. Van Zyl came to the party and was just 6 short of his highest ever first class score; strong performances from Wright and Brown; and a stunning cameo at the end from Archer with 42 runs from 14 balls. There aren't enough superlatives to describe this burgeoning young star. A couple of early Leicestershire wickets tomorrow should put the cat amongst the pigeons. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/scorecard/ECKO41347

Brilliant afternoon at Arundel for Sussex CCC. Wickets just kept tumbling. And then there was a rousing good old Sussex by the sea in the home dressing room after.
None of us should give up the fight towards promotion. The Sharks are in the hunt !!!
Colin
ps see you all tomorrow

At 90-1, I thought we might have trouble taking 10 wickets but we bowled well and stuck at it. All the bowlers chipped in with Jordan's two post lunch wickets putting us firmly in charge. Leicestershire's T20ers could then be assured of getting a decent night's sleep in Liverpool before their T20 game.

With the present Championship momentum, Sussex still have an outside chance of promotion but, typically, the T20 is now upon us. Overall, a sound performance with Archer yet again playing a starring role alongside Van Zyl. The side is good enough for Division 1 status but this requires a period of injury-free players and, above all, consistency.

It's one of those games where you keep thinking the next session will decide the game. As joe says, it needs someone to bat well. One good innings could put us in a strong position. I thought we stuck at it well today. There were a few times when Leicestershire might have got the upper hand but we pegged them back. From square leg, Nash's dismissal looked harsh. He seemed to be nearer the bowler than the keeper when the ball hit his pads. I hope he didn't mouth off too badly as he left the field full of anger. Interesting day three to come. Coming down the wicket to McKay with the new ball? Not only is he out of form but it sounds as if he's not over the knock to his head! He didn't come down the wicket, he means he got a big stride in.

Another solid win in a game we had to, given how it was by the end of day three especially. Beer's still not fully trusted it seems but when asked to bowl in this game he has taken wickets - four in 27 overs compared to the 'safer' Briggs' two in 45. Strike rate or economy Sussex, what do you fancy? Strike rate all day for me.
Anywho, well played and we march on.

Yes Arundel is a beautiful ground in beautiful surroundings but is it a first class wicket? I have my doubts.

Yes Arundel is a beautiful ground in beautiful surroundings but is it a first class wicket? I have my doubts. Yes, I sometimes wonder if folks are so seduced by the beautiful environment that their critical faculties are somewhat blunted.

I wasn't at Arundel this year, but didn't the wicket offer more? This match did at least produce runs and wickets, plus a result
