Game 3 and still looking for our first win.
What have we learnt? 1. Win the toss and bat first. We're not good at chasing, a lot of our batters lose their shape when under pressure. 2. Don't bowl Nash, ever. 3. Brown is not a No3, he should bat below our all-rounders. 4. We have enough bowling with 5 bowlers, 6 is one too many and weakens the batting. 5. Beer takes wickets, Briggs doesn't.

1. Yep. 2. Why not? 3. We need an overseas T20 wicky, a master blaster to come in at 5/6 if we're serious about progressing. 4. Yes but tell that to Davis. He said recently our balance is much better now with the extra bowler, astonishingly, so we can expect more of the same. 5. I'd like to see Rawlins come in for Briggs, and Davis' blinkered view on balance actually makes it feasible. Suspect not though.

Yes, Rawlins for Briggs makes sense, bat him at 3

Not sure if I have put this in the right place.
By Car Personally, I would aim to arrive early and head for the £8 general public cricket parking area (Reeves Playing Field, Old Bath Road, GL53 7DA). Will be signposted.
By Train Aprox 20 min walk from Cheltenham Spa.
Ground Gates open 12.30. Best seats fill up quickly (if weather decent). Decent mid wicket view from pavilion stand (in shade). Small stand alongside Chapel End sightscreen provides even better view.
Refreshments Various options within ground. If you fancy a shandy, there is an additional public refreshment tent ("The Cow Corner Inn") on the lower side of the ground, plus 4 club tents. The Churdown club tent openly welcomes guests.
If staying in Cheltenham for the evening After close of play, The Cow Corner Inn will be holding an "End of Festival Party". Alternatively, a short walk will take you to the Montpellier area of town, for eating and drinking options.
For the specific attention of '2015t20everpresent' / Colin Sorry that I can't help you out on the ticket front. Hopefully, you will have already secured a ticket (surely you deserve a complimentary ticket from one of the player's)! If not, on the day, I would head for the College Chapel entrance (Sandford Road). Actively ask those queuing if anyone has a spare ticket that you could purchase. Advance group tickets (10 or more @ £12 each) are regularly promoted. You might be lucky that someone in one of the groups has failed to turn up/missed their transport. As a last resort, I would ask to speak with Will Brown (Glos Chief Executive) to explain your predicament. (He should only be a few yards away from the entrance, in his temp club office base). Best of luck on the ticket front and have a safe journey.

glosexile,
While I am unable to attend this game, may I say on behalf of the Board what a helpful and generous post you've written. Thank you. Good luck Colin Bowman too for his holy grail of ticket purchasing.

Briggs will play as Davis is picking the team.
I thought the idea of dropping a batsman for a bowler was ill advised. Van Zyl for Garton.
The key is if we win the toss to bat first as we are clearly not capable of chasing.

Just to clarify/correct my previous post regarding the gate opening time. The two previous T20 matches at this year's Cheltenham Festival (against Middlesex and Kent) both commenced at 14.30. Somewhat naively, I expected the fixture on Sunday against Sussex to also start at 14:30. However, I have belatedly realised that the fixture actually starts 30 minutes earlier at 14:00. Gates should open 2 hours before start of play i.e at 12:00. (The 4 other T20 games taking place around the country on Sunday all appear to be starting at 14:30. Not entirely sure why we are out of sync with the common start time on Sunday). Anyway apologies for the previous incorrect information.

My thanks too to glosexile. I have moved these very helpful directions and comments into the main thread for the match, so everything is accessible in one place.

I suspect Garton will be dropped for van Zyl but I'd drop Briggs.

I suspect Garton will be dropped for van Zyl but I'd drop Briggs. It'll be interesting if any bowler is dropped for Van Zyl. Davis clearly stated after the last game that he thought the balance (six bowlers) was much better so if that does happen maybe he ain't calling the shots.
You have to wonder about our thought process going into this tournament, seems we're making it up as we go along.

Sussex won the toss and will . . . .
. . . bat first

Wright out for 2. Now the other ten players out of the one man team will actually have to do something to earn their pay packet rather than relying on Wright to do all the work for them.
Why have Gloucestershire gone with seven bowlers? Taylor, Howell and Perera will need to produce with bat and ball.
