But none of those players are from South Africa, according to most people on here.

Is it any wonder South Africa lost to Bangladesh when there are so many South Africans playing country cricket? South African county XI signed since 2016: Van Zyl, Kuhn, Roussow, Smit wk, Wiese, Harmer, Parnell, Abbott, Morkel, Olivier, De Lange Most of them played for South Africa but didn't do quite enough : Van Zyl 12 Tests, 395 runs av 26 Kuhn 4 Tests, 113 runs, av 14 Roussouw no Tests, 36 ODIs, 1239 runs, av 38
Smit No Tests, age 35 Wiese No Tests, age 34 Harmer 5 Tests, 20 wickets av 29 Parnell 6 Tests and 65 ODIs, 508 runs av 22, 4 wickets av 29 Abbott 11 Tests, 39 wickets av 22, 18 ODIs 34 wickets av 30 Morkel is 34 Olivier 10 Tests, 48 wickets av 19 De Lange 2 Tests, 4 ODIs They're a pretty mixed bag, mostly a bit long in the tooth, which has been a criticism of those who are playing in this World Cup - Steyn, Duminy, Amla - and some who didn't quite fit in for one reason or another. Olivier and Roussouw are probably the exceptions.

The changeable weather is threatening to make the World Cup a lottery. The Australia v Pakistan game yesterday only escaped the weather as it happened by chance to be at Taunton, one of the few places to escape the dodgy weather. I don't understand why there is no reserve day for such an important competition. I heard someone from the organising committee justifying the fact there was no reserve day because the logistics would be impossible or the tournament would need to be much longer. I simply don't believe that. Most sides have 4-5 days between games, so they would just have to travel a day later. It was suggested that re-booking hotels and arrangements for ticketing would be a problem. Surely, teams would just book an extra night in the hotels and travel a day later than they might need to. As for tickets, surely they can just be valid for the next day. The only real problem I can see, which actually wasn't mentioned, is the fact that the staffing at the grounds would need to be available. As Bangladesh and Afghanistan (and South Africa??) are arguably weaker than the other teams, it could make a difference of two points if any team has their games against both these sides rained off.

England now have to face the three strong sides to qualify. Australia, India and New Zealand will all fancy their chances.

Weather looking irritatingly iffy on Tuesday for the biggest England match since the T20 World Cup Final two years ago. Meanwhile, Channel 4 decide that airing a reality show about drag queens (10pm) is more important than showing the match highlights (11pm). At least, it's shown an hour earlier than some of their World Cup games. Utter disgrace! Did you know all the Australian World Cup matches plus the Semis and Final are being shown live and on Free-to-Air on Network 9s sister Channel 9Gem. That's the difference between caring about cricket and p*ssing all over it. www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2643743

Typical that the hero of Afghanistan's match against India, Nabi, is bowled second ball against Bangladesh.

Archer has passed his fitness test and is playing. A HUGE toss to win. Unless completely mad, you bowl first given the Lord's pitch and overcast, humid conditions. Will England bring in another seamer like Plunkett and drop Ali? Amusing that pre-match SKY are talking about the Warner and Smith scandal, yet Panesar was seemingly doing a similar thing for England. PS: England win the toss. I have never heard an England Captain say so quickly, "We'll bowl first!"

Carey has been impressive for Australia. Really looking forward to seeing him play at Hove.

i attended Bangladesh v Afghanistan at the Ageas Bowl yesterday. Bangladeshi supporters comprised a high percentage of the crowd. Besides being a friendly bunch, getting a beer without any queueing was good news.

Very sad to see England collapsing in front of our eyes. No idea where they go from here. The India match on Sunday will be no easier especially if the Edgbaston pitch is a slow one and it looks like Stokes has an injury.

What in this game? They're not gonna bring up someone doing something ten years ago are they. This was Smith & Warner's first game against England since.
When it matters England bottle out of their all action plan, I think. Did the same against Pakistan in the CT. Last two games we've been 40 odd off the first ten overs. What's that? I doubt we've been 40 odd off ten in any game over the last three years, except maybe that Pakistan game. We keep going was the spec. Unless our arse goes that is.
