it shouldnt have to be a dangled carrot though, we should be backing ourselves as thats a winners mentality!

318 off 67 overs is 4.75 runs per over. Definitely would dangle the carrot to Derbyshire. 64 unless we declare over lunch, which might not be a bad idea, element of surprise.

The obvious lack of confidence in our bowlers must be terrible for their morale

Sussex have clearly decided that a loss is not acceptable. Will be a good test for the bowlers. Agree with Carson opening from 1 end; but why haven't Shipley or McAndrew been given the new ball? Really hope wickets tumble as it will stop the commentators rambling on and on about negativity.

What do I know. Karvelas just got the first wicket.

Three wickets down and Derbys behind the required run rate. Presume they’ll retreat into their shells before long.

Carson has bowled poorly so far. Coles is doing ok. Need to mix it up a bit. Give Haines and Ibrahin and FHP a go. If we can get two quick wickets, who knows.

No target is big enough for this Sussex bowling attack to defend.

No target is big enough for this Sussex bowling attack to defend. Derby are going for it! Risky!

Looking like Derbys will make it. Lots of criticism here about the late declaration, including from me, but I now think they got it just about right.

Cracking game, not sure why 2 short pitched balls the batsman could duck under in that last over, nor why all the fielders weren’t around the bat from ball one but don’t want to be too critical

Leaving it that late youve accepted your protecting the draw and the win is unlikely. Therefore just bat on and save your bowlers unnecessary overs. Going a an hour earlier yes you might have lost but you have a greater chance of winning. They seem really uncertain whether to stick or twist at the minute. Id give Archie a run as front line spinner and see how he gets on as that seems to be our clear weakness.
