What caused our players to get agitated in the Leicestershire game? Just frustration at not taking wickets or something more?

What caused our players to get agitated on the Leicestershire game? Just frustration at not taking wicket’s or something more? Fear of ridicule? Failing to defend a 499 lead would lead to that.

How old are they? These are not primary school kids, there is a difference between playing hard and tripping an opponent up. It’s like he took an idiot pill. He must know there are cameras. It was like in the T20 game v Hants when Ravi didn’t make it on time. There he was messing about on camera laughing along with the lads, on the bench. That was such a bad look I wrote to the club. If what Karvelas said is true, I despair. Why would you do that? Why would it even cross your mind to do that? What did Ari say? All ive read is he said the word Village? If thats all he said its utterly ridiculous he was suspended for that.

He allegedly said to the batsman “send him back to the village he came from” when he was out.
To my mind that is a perfectly acceptable thing to say with the connotation being that he’s only at village cricket standard. However, because the player is of Asian origin it’s seen as racist.

Funnily enough in a club game i played him while i was batting a fielder shouted "send him back" as in send him back to the pavillion. I never said a word just thought it was part of it but his own captain reprimanded him because of the racist connotations. I dont Ari meant any racism in his comment but he should just be made aware he should think before he speaks, very harsh to suspend him.

When this game finally starts I wonder if both teams might agree to forfeit their first innings. Derbys will be keen to get their first win of the season although we might be content to escape with a draw.

This would mean that both sides could gain some batting and bowling points. Of course, the captains would have to trust each other not to change their mind! I wonder if this breaks any rules, though. Failing that, the ECB should have some way to facilitate a one-innings game if the weather takes up too much of the time to make a result highly unlikely.

I took it as a veiled reference to the Leics batsman coming from Pakistan. Unacceptable. But if you guys play at a decent club standard and say ‘village’ references are common on the field as a sleight on poor standard then that’s different. It’s Clumsy , but harmless.

Given he is foreign too it would be an incredibly thick comment to make. You are exactly right its clumsy but harmless and we shouldnt immediately look fo rthe race issue in every comment. 1 thing i always think is the the standard of umpiring in this country is abysmal and its not overly surprising things boil over out there.

Yes, incredibly stupid, especially as Karachi has a population of 18m and Lahore around 9m.
