Absolutely. It’s a long old time since Alsop had a strong, consistent spell. You could say Carter is not a number three. But the same could be said of Alsop. Carter is very unlucky to be usually cast in the role of odd man out. Im not convinced he is cast in that role. He's part of a squad thats competing for places. Simpsons Wicketkeeping against Northants showed exactly what weve been missing behind the stumps for a decade or more. If he scores runs he'll make himself undroppable, this should be embraced after the last few years. I'm not normally a fan of this, but is there a case for moving Pujara up to 3 and Coles or Carter at 4? Think Carter has made a big score when batting at 4 previously.

But, that could be a problem for the makeup of the side.

No no John, dont mess wth your best player in the most important position just to squeeze someone in. Places are to be earnt now not given.

All this talk of being harsh dropping Carter…. To me he looks to have a problem with getting castled too much at the mo. Kept getting bowled in preseason and got bowled twice in three balls last game!

Oh I fully agree, I was more coming from the perspective of Alsop being replaced, rather than squeezing Carter in.

Its weird i still fancy Alsop to score big runs but with Carter i dont think hes enough shots, particularly early in his innings too tentative.

Carter and Lamb miss out for our best chance of winning this game.

Kept getting bowled in preseason and got bowled twice in three balls last game! Yes, that was alarming. They went straight through. Not sure if it’s a technique issue or what but he needs to sort it out immediately. To be fair to him, they were two good balls (albeit one a no-ball).

A lot said about why Chris Wright didnt sign for us, these personal issues he has are clearly on a grander scale judging by his lack of availability for Leicester so far.
We may have been lucky to have avoided this one.
Anyway buzzing again for the game. Their batting looks stronger than their bowling but i fancy us to get a positive result.

Won the toss and fielding first.
Pujara for Carter, Karvelas for Robinson.

Is anyone at the game? We seem to be struggling with the new ball?
