Weather, weather, weather... That's two games now, Sussex could have won.

We’re still top of the Div 2 table.

So we’ve had two rounds of matches so far and only one decisive result. I recall something similar last year. It’s not going to capture the imagination of the unconverted. Let’s all pray for something better in the next round.

Get rid of the Kookaburra ball. We shouldn't be using it at all. If the potential England and current England players need to get experience, do so in the nets. More nonsense from the ECB?
And while we are at it: get rid of overseas players that can't play red ball cricket for a whole season. We are wrecking the opportunities for home grown talent. This isn't having a dig at Sussex, but all Counties. How many English players manage to infiltrate foreign team red ball matches?
Rant over; for the moment.

Rant over; for the moment. The overseas player argument is even older than I am! In my view, 18 counties offering at least 9 slots for England qualified players per game offers plenty enough opportunities. It was different under the Kolpak rules when the South Africans were taking so many places. I do agree that the current chopping and changing of overseas players throughout each season has become a bit farcical. The main argument in favour of the Kookabura is that it should force English bowlers to rely less on hitting the seam and master other skills instead, especially upping their pace. I don’t know if the limited use of Kookaburras in the English game is enough to achieve this but I get the logic.

Personally I'd have 3 overseas players, it drives up the quality. If you're English you have to be good to get in the side. Moaning about them not being around all season is slightly bizarre given the flooded international schedule and the Franchise tournaments around.
I think 5 across all formats for the summer is a success story for Sussex.
