I agree. This has been blown up out of all proportion. Surely all of us could be embarrassed by something we did in our teenage years? Who is the sad **** who bothered to trawl through 10 years tweets and then publish them at the moment calculated to do the most damage? Nasty vindictive behaviour.

On a lighter note - it was a joy to watch Ollie's performances for England today, with bat and ball. He's looked very controlled, and quietly confident. Keep it up, Ollie.

The Telegraph now says Ollie may well be dropped for the second NZ Test too as a punishment for his teenage tweets from 2012 and 2013. What a frigging farce. Are the ECB that cowardly? Ollie has had a sensational debut with both bat and ball and this is how his peers treat him!? He has verbally flagellated himself already with a grovelling apology. Does the ECB also expect Ollie to hang, draw and quarter himself too? Surely, the silent majority are fully aware of how extreme and dangerous the woke movement is, cynically taken over and trumpeted by the Marxist far left. The ECB will look utterly foolish if they punish Ollie, so please mate take as many wickets as you can in the second innings. Every wicket (3 so far) is another slap to the ECBs spineless face. Meanwhile, let us also hope that in each England Euro match, when the players take the knee, the crowd boos get louder and louder. This woke extremism must be eradicated. It is highly dangerous and cannot be allowed to fester. www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2021/06/03/ollie-robinson-dropped-england-second-test-wake-racist-tweets/

With such an array of RFM bowlers on the periphery of the Test squad, chances are he may not get another chance if the powers that be make an example of him despite his humblest apologies, which will suit us as Sussex fans but not fair on Ollie.

Suspended from all international cricket with immediate effect pending an enquiry by the ECB.
Not available for selection for the second Test, to return to Sussex.

[bwr] Does this mean he is available to play for Sussex? Or are the Sussex management obliged to side line him? This really is a rotten situation. He should not have been outed by the ECB but rather should have given up his pay and appearance money to a worthwhile charity. Is there more to come out of the closet? I hope not.

That's an absolutely disgusting thing to do to a young player. Just because he said a few naughty words when he was a teenager, that's no reason whatsoever to suspend him and kick him out the camp. The ECB should be ashamed of themselves for such a move. I hope they reinstate him soon.

I’m back!
OK, Ollie tweeted some unpleasant things, when he was basically still a kid, as long as he no longer thinks like that and is really sorry that should be the end of the matter.
If genuine apologies makes no difference to the outcome, then why bother, why change, why strive to be a better person, you will be hung out to dry for every former misdemeanour anyway.

He was 18 and 19 years old - the same sort of age as many of those taking part in D Day 77 years ago yesterday. He also had the benefit, I've read, of an expensive Public School education. He should have known better. Having said that, I'm not sure I'd have suspended him from international cricket. A stiff fine, plus some 'awareness' training... I think that's what I would have suggested, if asked.
