let's see what he can do with a full season of playing for Sussex. We won't get that opportunity. He won't be available until the beginning of June due to the IPL.

That's IF he's picked up for the IPL. He wasn't picked up last year till late on in the competition as a replacement and didn't perform well enough to be an automatic pick for next year. I think Tymal has more of a chance than CJ.

He had a slow start but took 11 at 23.45, including 4-11 and was very influential in the closing stages. I think he would be a very likely pick and his reputation is higher there than here.

I expect to see both of them playing in it, along with Buttler, Billings, Morgan, Roy and possibly Hales, if he accepts his Test career is over. I've got a hunch one of the Currans might pitch up in it, too.

It seems that Sussex do not lose out financially by Jordan losing his central contract. He would only have been in line for a limited overs contract anyway and apparently:
"While players on the Test list are paid solely by the ECB, those on limited-overs deals will receive a supplement on top of their county contract."
I take that to mean that even if Jordan had been awarded a central contract for white ball cricket, under the way the contract system now works, Sussex would still have been liable for his salary costs.

Well that depends on whether Jordan is happy with just his Sussex salary or whether he'll ask for an increase or go somewhere where they're willing to pay more for him.

It's a huge loss of earnings....2015 a central contract retainer of 700,000 pounds, 2016 a supplemental white ball contract plus Sussex, 2017 Sussex only....I have never understood how ECB justify paying say cook a 750 retainer and he plays seven times for Essex but CJ on no central contract is released for only four games.

Yes, its hard to know who pulls the strings on these decisions. At what point do Bayliss and Farbrace have control over who plays what cricket, and who do they hand over to? What role do the various specialist lead coaches have in deciding who needs more, or less time involved in play? If the latter, is there any monitoring for consistent application of standards between these leads* and who is responsibly for this specific quality management? I've looked in detail at the ECB website and their various glossy publications and no mention is made about how the specific relationship with the county game is managed. I suppose it is possible everything is referred up to Strauss, but that seems to be wasteful. Does anyone have any insights to share? *ECB Lead Fast Bowling Coach Kevin Shine ECB Lead Batting Coach Graham Thorpe ECB Lead Spin Bowling Coach Peter Such National Fielding Coach Richard Halsall Wicket-keeping Coach Bruce French National Lead Spin Bowling Coach Peter Such

Along with Dawid Malan, CJ becomes the first English player to play in a match in Lahore since the 2009 Sri Lankan team bus was attacked by terrorists. The security was massive, but the game went ahead without incident and CJ's side Peshawar Zalmi beat Quetta , the latter missing Luke Wright and KP,handsomely with CJ taking 1-16. Good for cricket and good for Pakistan,

Not in the squad either for the Ireland ODI or for the Champions Trophy, so will presumably be available now for Sussex from his return from India right up until September. Sorry for CJs international ambitions, though they may well come again and he deserves to be recognised for what he can do in whiteball - but it will be handy for Sussex to have a quality bowler fit (with fingers very much cropssed) and available.
