It's a little odd that Luke Wright's announcement at the 'Members Forum' on Thursday that Ben Brown will be his Vice-Captain in 2016 has not been announced yet in the media or on the club's own website.
I am sure there is a good reason for it but even so...

I am sure there is a good reason for it but even so... The club's PR is often clumsy. Any announcement so long after the initial disclosure is bound to be anti-climatic. On second thoughts, the disclosure was made at a forum regarded as a private meeting, so it's not officially been made public yet, has it?

To annouce it now when every Sussex supporter has known since last week would make the club look foolish and out-of-touch with reality. The only way to do it is with a website interview with Brown, billed as 'the new vice-captain tells us why he's excited by his new role and believes Sussex will win promotion next season'. But perhaps he can't speak until the Head Man is back from Humberside to tell him what to say?

" At the time of writing this hasn’t been disclosed publicly by the club, though I’m sure Adam Matthews will have been urgently charged with briefing Steve Hollis"
And so it came to pass, and the news value was so underplayed that Steve Hollis had to Tweet an "In case you missed it" mention last night.

Totally agree. There's something inspiring about Luke Wright that I'm optimisitc will make him a truly great captain.

The Club Advent Calendar offers a 'Quality Street' Strawberry Cream this week with a recent interview from Luke Wright. A pity the interviewer, Adam Matthews, can't be heard better. Listening to Luke speak, it kinda sends a tingle of excitement down the spine. Can't wait for the new season. Meanwhile, Luke has already made a big impression in Australia with a 'cheeky 100' (his description) as he helps his team 'Melbourne Stars' to, hopefully, reach the 'Big Bash' Finals yet again! Team mate Kevin Pietersen joined the side yesterday after his heroics in South Africa and a run-in with Qantas after being banned from the plane's VIP lounge for wearing flip-flops. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUYfL5xvd1g&feature=youtu.be

Awful start for him and the Melbourne Stars. Lucky to get away with a missed stumping first ball, then one of 5 dropped catches, finally got going and trod on his stumps. The team got becalmed in a 4 run, 2 wicket over from Laughlin and finished 19 runs short with wickets in hand. Things must improve from here....

Our Luke has hit the 'Pakistan Super League T20 Tournament' running as his rich vein of form continues for his new team 'Quetta Gladiators'. He smashed 86* in 56 balls in a total of 132-2 to easily secure victory against opponents Islamabad United with 4 overs still to be bowled. Luke's English compadre, Kevin Pietersen, managed just 8 before getting out LBW. Sadly, Sam Billings playing for Islamabad only scored 2. This was the opening match of the competition. There must be growing concerns that as Luke continues to dominate the Franchise tournaments, he must be, once more, on the radar of the England selectors. A spate of injuries to the present England batsmen and suddenly Luke could be drafted in to the T20 World Cup. www.pakistantimes.com/2016/02/05/1st-t20-quetta-beat-islamabad-first-psl-match-373245.html

Luke Wright carries on where he left off. 47 today, and Pietersen 29 not out and finishing the match with a 6, for Quetta Gladiators to beat Karachi Kings in the 18th over. www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/959181.htmlKarachi Kings had James Vince (30) and Ravi Bopara (40), to say nothing of Mohammad Amir

Unfortunately and worryingly the calls for the T20 World Cup are mounting. The "mutual appreciation society". This guy HAS TO be in England's T20 squad whenever it's announced! Not seen him bat any better!

Kevin Pietersen is not the only former England player who believes Luke has been snubbed by the ECB.
