What's Rawlins' contract situation? Players are happy when they're playing. He should have been playing earlier, absolutely criminal that he wasn't picked in the RLC after last year's T20 campaign - another example of Gillespie's ineptitude as a coach. Bewildering frankly, but he's playing now. Jordan and Archer on the books should help. We need to build around Rawlins, Garton, Salt & Robinson. They are our future, not your Mitchell Claydons.

H-P - who you’d probably forgotten about until his name popped up on a Derbyshire scorecard years after his release.

Credit to him, he's performed well. He should of course, he's a former international and the finished article. I championed his signing when he was legit, but he's been better since. Good on him. Rather than wasting our money on Claydon we really should be trying to bring H-P home so he can step in to Wiese's shoes when Wiese is done. They're hard to come by, and we let one leave without even giving him a chance. Our own blood. Shame on you Davis. County in release of young player shocker. It happens, none of them have ever really come back to bite us.

Well it's early days but he's above 40 batting and below 30 bowling in five CC games and in the mid 20s with both disciplines from a full T20 campaign. My only complaint is we produced him, we promoted him, then we didn't play him. Only a fool wouldn't see a problem with that, regardless of how he does. As it happens he's doing well, so far. I remember lots of things, I'm not senile.
As he isn't at Sussex, I don't need to hire 007 to find out he's on a 3 year deal at Derby. Really my point is, who would prefer to sign a player of Claydon's profile to that of H-P, regardless of either's past?
I apologise for my impossible request for a mere mortal to find out Rawlins' contract situation. I had a naïve moment. Does anyone have Bond's number?

As far as I’m aware Rawlins contract ends at the end of this season as does Mills, Sakande and Topley.

About as astonished as I am that we've let it get this close. More stupidity. As for the other three, I'd keep all over Claydon. If we release Sakande to take on Claydon I'm gonna be spitting blood.

An overseas batsman for next season then, according to Gillespie... Burns, Labuschagne, Maxwell, Shaun Marsh - just a few Aussie suggestions!

New batter (c) New batter van Zyl Wells/Haines/Finch Salt Rawlins Brown (wk) Wiese Robinson Garton Topley Not far off what I had in mind, though I think we have to find a reliable wicket taking strike bowler, to partner Robinson. It could well be Topley, but as yet, have we seen enough to suggest he can be relied upon fitness wise? Definitely need two proper top order batsmen, one of which will probably be an overseas The other may have to be a prestige domestic signing. At the end of the day, we have to be looking to replace Hamza/Carey, Archer, Wright, Burgess and Sakande, none of whom have ever been replaced

Yes I think if Topley can stay fit he could be the answer.
Chris Jordan has had his day in the CC side, been going backwards for last couple of seasons. We’d only really miss his slip catching.

The problem is, if we offer him a deal, and he breaks down, we’re fooked We need someone who will pretty much guarantee us 40-50 wickets, if we are to ease Robinson’s workload

Claydon joins the club next season, who would fill a seam bowling slot, along with Robinson and Topley if he stays fit enough. Whether Gillespie thinks another bowler is needed I'm not sure. Jordan doesn't immediately spring to mind as a four day bowler.
